Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker nr Gent, Belgium drank in a field at Cropredy Festival, Saturday 11th August 2012 Pours black with light beige head, really foamy head. Nutty but with a lovely softness, gloriously understated and the sort of beer you want to remain undiscovered. Love this, good roasty stout but with a pleasant hoppiness. Superb. draft @ Delirium Hoppy Loft // It is still quite weird to see a bona fide Imperial Stout made in Belgium, wonder if this is made mainly for export? // Even has an American hop in it apparently // black with a mocha head // aroma is quite mocha heavy, blended with American hops into a whole, touch roast, overall quite going to fruity with the mocha going to the touch sweeter side & roast not being a dominant character, on the non-bitter side of coffee // taste is however bitter, must be the hops because the mocha & coffee are not quite on the bitter side, bitter sweet, touch chocolate milk & milk chocolate, medium long bitter coffee & bitter hop finish ‘which add more of a hop bitter dimension than fruitiness to this), dark fruits & espresso // body is quite nicely full but not entirely smooth because of the hops, carb. is around medium // overall a solid Imperial Stout but more in the middling category, I prefer my stouts on the smoother, heavier & tad sweeter side, this one is quite into hops, for me not every style should be as hopped-up as an IPA // interesting that Belgium is beginning to try this sort of stuff but it doesn’t feel like we are performing adequately so far in this category for the biggest part // we can or we should do better

Jet black colour with dark creamy head. Aroma is really hoppy but also has some roasted, bitter malts. Flavour has a big contrast of bitter, roasted, slightly smokey malt versus a sharp dry hop.
