This amazing beer combines the best of all worlds. Five specialty malts and three superior hop varieties have been carefully chosen from the Pacific Northwest, the U.K. and Europe. The malted barleys and hops create a rich, traditional porter. The addition of all natural pure blackberry provides an exciting complexity to this easy sipping wonder. Bottled, from Kimberley, BC. Near black, rich head. Unsurprising aroma of blackberry and coffee. Midsweet with clean, rounded mouthfeel and medium body. Some salty tar mingls with the blackberry jam im a mid-bitter finish. Would probably have worked better with a more chocolatey flavour instead of coffee and tar.

Draught at Amberjack Tap House, Surrey, BC
Black color, creamy head. Evident berry aroma, raspberry and blackberry, with a dash of roasted malt. Good body strength; strong chocolate flavor, some roasted malt, and a pleasant blackberry flavor; the bitterness is too strong. I’m not a fan of such beers, but this one is very well brewed.

650mL bottle - pours almost pure black with an off-white head. Blackberries are dominant. Smooth porter with a dry finish, but a little thin. Good porter, nonetheless.

Bottle courtesy of CBA: Poured a dark black color porter with a nice foamy head with some good retention. Aroma of sweet berry is somewhat dominating with some light roasted malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a nice balance between semi-sweet berries and some light dry roasted malt notes. Body is a bit light with some better then average carbonation. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised by that one since I usually don’t like fruit and porter to be mixed together.

Bottle from BC Liquor store. Deep ruby colour with thin tan head. Fruity dark fruitsand dark malts on the aroma. Blackberry fruit in evidence over a rather thin body and then a powdery choc on end. Bit of liquorice. Some dryness on end.

Bottle. Chocolate covered somewhat artificial berries. Dark brown, no head. Granola with blackberries and a bit fudge. Lightbodied, tinny mouthfeel. Refreshing and not the worst idea, but the execution could be better.

Reddish brown porter with a thin white head. Sweet caramel malt with black berries in aroma, light chocolate notes. Nice bitter chocolate with deep nuttyness and light berries in finish. Powdery dry porter, with medium body. A nice sweet porter. Tasted at Institut’s gambrinale, Outaouais, Oct. 28 2005. From Jean Marc in Coquitlam.

Mahogany colour. Huge blackberry syrup aroma with coffee, nuts, vanilla in the background. Sweet blackberry notes bounce off of astringent, slightly nutty roasted malts. Certainly not seamless, but the combination is a natural. Finishes with the same sweet/bitter interplay on the palate. This beer is like best friends arguing.
