Witkap-Pater Special is a top-fermented beer with refermentation in the bottle. The color is blond amber, deep blond. The beer tastes bitter, especially in the aftertaste. It also tastes a bit malty. It beads beautifully and flows in gently.
Initially launched under the name ''Greut Lawauitj'' the Witkap-Pater Special was especially brewed for the "European Belleman Championship" held in Ninove in 2004. The Belleman or Town Crier is a person who rings the bell and broadcasts news in the streets.

Tap @ In De Wildeman. Very dark, almost black color. Dense beige head. Aroma’s: sweet malts, soapy, light fruit. Surprisingly low on aroma’s actually, also retronasal, where there’s some additional fruit, moss, grain. Not much flavor either, a bit grain. Light bodied. Disappointing, --- Beer aliased from original tick of Greut Lawauitj on 26 Oct 2018 at 20:51 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. 6/6/4/4/5 On tap at In de Wildeman. Witkap Pater Special Bruin, ABT beer of the month. Deep dark brown beer, off-white head. Completely different than the regular Special. Aroma of some roasted malts, watery liquorice, leaves, tea, vegetables. Flavour is light roasted malts, hint of dark fruits, liquorice, mostly leafy and vegetable cooking water, light nutty bitter finish. Light-bodied, watery. Not very good. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Greut Lawauitj on 02 Sep 2012 at 03:23 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Original review text: 33cl Bottle at Kafé België, as Witkap Pater Special. Hazy light amber colour, white head. Aroma of malts, bread, a bit sweet, haystack, yeast, dusty. Flavour is light sweet, bread, malty, dry, hay, yeast, nice full on malty bitterness with light hops. Light-bodied, full carbonation that suits the beer. I quite liked this.

Fra flaske på Cardinaltreff des-12: en syrlig belgisk blondine med højt skum! God balanse og deilig forfriskende. Bør drikkes kold, da den ble litt vammel når temperaturen steg i glasset.

330 ml bottle, as Witkap Pater Special, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Golden colour, slightly hazy. Pours very fizzy with a hude white head. Pleasant fruity and spicy aroma, "typically Belgian", also notes of kandij sugar syrup. The flavour is spicy and refreshing, not too sweet, but the finish is a bit short. Overall very enjoyable.

Bottle, from trade with fonefan. As Pikkeling Bier. It’s a lighlty unclear one, pale golden in color and topped by a dense, finger-thick white head leaving lacings. The aroma is sugary and lightly malty, with some cellar, a faint bubble-gum touch, some generic fruityness and a faint scent of toffee. White sugar, some pears and yellow apples in the flavor, a touch of pale malts in the back. Thin and a bit flat on the palate, and with a pleasant bitterness in the end. Well, a decent beer, nothing more. 120413

Very hazy brown - gold beer with floaty bits! Tidy white head. Slightly soft palate with moderate carbonation. Dry malt somewhat overwhelms sweet syrupy peach and a little fresh orange. Finishes dry. Okay but a bit clunky.
