(Bottle, Pivovarsky Klub, Prague, 19 July 2014) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, tobacco and hints of tar. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice and a bitter-sweet finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Well made and tasty imperial stout. Very nice.

Bottle @ Pivovarsky Dum, Prague. Pours black with a small brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, light sour cherries. Flavor is malts, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, light sour cherries. Medium body, soft carbonation, warming alcoholic finish. Wonder if the sourness is intended, still pretty nice. 200414

Pours dark dark brown with a brown lacing, almost no head. Aroma has dark rye bread, malts, roast, some kind of sour candy - alcohol also spiking through. Taste has some strong sourness also, roast is strong. Black home-made rye bread that has been inside a bowl of coffee for some time. This one would pair well with some desserts made of bread. Some nuts, again sourness - that sort of fits with this beer. This one has stronger body and thick mouthfeel - with a long, dry aftertaste - full of black bread.

Shared 330 ml swingtop botlle, at local tasting. ABV is 8.5%. Pitch black colour, low dark brown head. Moderately roasty aroma, notes of dark chocolate and mild coffee, hints of woodwork. The flavour is slightly dry (some residual sweetness) and roasty, notes of coffee hints of liquorice and ashes.

Bottle, from trade with dedollewaitor. It pours a black body under a light tan head leaving curtains. Coffee, toast, licorice, some sourness and a touch of bonfire in the aroma. Salty licorice, roasted malts, toast and some sour notes in the flavor. Full body, dry and softly carbonated. Burnt finish. A tasteful and pleasant one, tasteful and intense. 131129

Bottle, from trade with Dedollewaitor. Looking gorgeous this one, black in color and with a dense, finger-thick, tan head on top. Coffee, molasses and some dark sugar in the aroma. A little bit of chocolate too. The flavor is more on the chocolate side, with coffee, mocha and a nice hoppyness. Not very bitter. A bit thin on the palate maybe, yet far from watery. Quite dry, finishing with chocolate dominating. An impressive beer, and certainly not what I expected from the Czech Republic. 110826

Bottle at Bruce’s. It pours deep brown-black with a medium light tan head. The nose is earth, wood, toast, vanilla, marshmallow, toffee and green apple. The taste is tart, sour lemon, sherbet. lactic and earth with a sour finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Looks and smells pretty good, but is clearly infected.
