“Multiple blends of beer, types of barrels, and extended aging were used to make this intensely complex sour beer. Envoutée’s base of Belgian Abbey malt was transformed by the brewing process, time, our house mixed culture containing Brettanomyces, and careful blending. This beer most recently exited cognac barrels, but prior to that it was aged in both Sherry barrels and stainless steel. Much of this hand-blended beer was more than two years old when bottled. Give this beer time in your glass to reveal flavours of ripe plums, petrichor, and hints of Jerez & Cognac.”

Pours unclear reddish amber with a small, creamy white head. The nose holds tangy berries, vinegar. Light sweet flavour with more tart berries, leather, more vinegar, salt. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Acetic finish, more tart berries and vinegar. Punchy but not bad.

Sampled from bottle @ RBBWG 2018, hosted by Beerlovers Bar, Antwerp. Unclear reddish to amber color, small white to off-white head. Smell and taste are incredibly sour, very very acidic, sharp wood / oak sour. Really not my kind of beer. I can't drink this.

Bottle. Clear reddish brown with a beige head that doesn't last. Aroma of cherries, damp earth, bracken, toffee. Thinnish, low carbonation. Sour with oak and bracken, cherries, lemon. More acid and less depth than suggested by the aroma, but pretty good.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of brett, malt, caramel, and a bit of citrus fruit. The flavor is sour with notes of vinegar, eood, brett, malt, lemons, and caramel, leading to a tart finish.

Bottle sample @ RBBWG Mar 10h. 2018, thanks 77ships.
