There is dissonance in how the past resonates with us. At times we insist on letting it go. Other times we cling nostalgically to comforting idylls that never existed. Only sometimes are we able to see the past holistically as History, whose lessons serve a better future. Regardless, it is our shared inheritance an begs an important question. Should we forfeit, abuse, or treasure it? The collective answer thus far has merely been 'yes'.
Pattinson Porter was brewed with friend and beer historian Ron Pattinson. Its inspiration lies in the hearty porters that were present in East Germany during the early to mid 20th century. Heavily toasty, highly hopped, and brettanomyces refermented - these beers stood out in both their time and ours. Unfiltered, unpasteurized, and 100% bottle conditioned.

Tap at the Owl Farm, courtesy of mansquito. Deep brown pour with a thin head. Nose is a nice mix of funk and malts, showing dried fruits, biscuits and molasses. Taste is sweet upfront, showing biscuits, toffee, molasses and bread, but it’s also funky and slightly acidic, very well balanced all around. I love funky dark beers, and this is a great example why.

Tap. Black, dense tan head lasts well.. Aroma of roast, funky citrus & twigs, boot polish, stewed fruit. Dry, bitter, twiggy zingy. Refreshing. Started a bit cold, balance worked better as it warmed a little. Interesting - very Bretty.

Tap@Ferm 11th Birthday, Copenhagen (25/09/2022) - dark malty with some notes of roast malt, some cocoa, caramel, the bretty and funky farmhouse vibes come in, some coffee roast, sourish bretty and malty into the close. Enjoyable and pretty different.

Bottle (750ml): Literally black, big creamy and VERY stable tanned head, solid vinous sourish-bitter aroma of dried fruits, toasted malt and herbal hops, accompanied by tannic traces of “wooden barrels”; moderate to solid sweetish-sour flavour with an additional moderate bitterness; medium to full bodied, silky MF; lingering sourish and roasty-bitter and vinous-tannic finish. Complex brew, but pleasant…

Draught at Owl Farm: black With beige head. Aroma is molasses, plenty of funk, minerals. Taste is funky and such up front, but the molasses and the baltic porter notes. Quite nice.
