0,33l bottle at home courtesy of Powy, big thanks. BB 26.10.2019. black color, small coffee colored head. smells of marzipan, spices, very light dried fruits, earthy. nice and subtle smell. full body, very light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes sharp of plastic, peatish, leathery, charcoal, earthy, hints of marzipan, some dried fruits, light booze, peppery, spices. finishes rather sharp boozy / peatish with notes of dried fruits, marzipan and some charcoal notes. Not a fan of this, this is very harsh (most likely the barrel treatment), lacks balance. Very sharp and unpleasant to drink. I loved the standard version, but this is totally unrelated in anythin but name. I feel generous to give this 3.2

Pours black, small tanned layer of foam. Smell is roasty, some oak, but not too much of the specific barrels initially. Taste is sharp, bit bitter, very roasty, ashy, tad sweet, some sherry is to be noticed here as well. Very, very chocolaty ( immensely pure dark chocolate ) and a rather boozy finish, almost like the 'heat' is pointing to some added peppers ? Medium-thin body, medium to medium-high carbo.

Taste comprises Xmas cake, spice, stewed fruits, tangy fruit edge, sherry barrel well evident, cocoa sprinkle, mellow roast, liquorice, dates, spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost. Solid.

Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, softish, reasonable fine carbonation. Soft rich dark malts, nice mellow dark chocolate, little fruity coffee. Soft dark malt cream. Slighty bitterish wood. Fruity sherry dominates the back half. Finishes smooth with more creamy dark chocolate and an emerging savoury slant on the fruity sherry. Fabarooney. Rich, soft and luxuriant. My Mrs says Mars Bar is in there, and she has a point.

Tasting at Matt's
Black colour with small frothy head. In the aroma, some cookie dough, roasted malts, glue. Strong rosted malt flavour, a bit ashy, and a bit boozy.
Monodimensional, and too roasty.
