Vieille Provision is a preservation beer, made from a selection of the best barrels of aged beer in our brewery. The beer is the base for Cuvée De Ranke and Kriek De Ranke and has aged at least one year on oak barrels.
Taste: The beer has a soft tartness with the subtle aroma of wood.

Bottle shared at Beer Merchants Tap - Hackney Wick. Cheers to Scoopey. Pours lightly hazy orange-gold with a bubbly, white head. Tangy citrus in the nose, some barrel, grass, wood. Light-medium sweet flavour with strong acidity, some cherry accents, oranges, salt, woody dryness, hints of grass. Medium to full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish with a bit more salty tang, tangerine, some further grass, lemons, sturdy acidity, melon, wood, grass. Excellent. Assertive.

75cl bottle, brewdog Helsinki. Poured unclear golden color with a thin white head. Aroma has tart, funky, apricotty nose. Flavor has funk, green apples, tartness. Bone dry finish. Excellent.

Bottle @ home. Light hazy amber colour, thin layer of white foam. Medium carbonation. Very complex nose of peaches, apricot, lemon, barnyard (very lambic like). Taste is tart, woody, lactic sourness, light bitter. Very well balanced. Wow, very nice beer!

20th Nov 2017. Shrewsbury Beer Share Group Meeting in Chez Sophie. Cheers Mat for this 75cl bottle: BB 8th Jun 2021. Misty amber pour, white topping. If you are into sour beers this is what you're after, sadly I am not a huge fan of such beers. I can however spot a decent beer even if the style is not one of my favourites. This is full of sour fruit esters and flavours, citrus fruits like lemons mostly, tart with an almost vinegar taste. Everyone else in the share group loved it (only five of us). I am the only non Sour Puss among us. Scored objectively.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Nov 17, courtesy of myself. Pours a misty golden amber, thin white head. Aroma is bright fruity lemon-esque funk. Taste is crisp, some vinegar, beautifully fruity sour, great complexities going on. Awesome.

Pour les amateurs d'acidité, ceux-ci y trouveront une bière dont le vieillissement en fût a conféré une certaine complexité et des nuances que nous ne retrouvons pas dans les autres sour. L'attaque est ainsi plutôt intéressante. Cela ne me fera pas changer d'avis sur les sour, car avec un Ph à 3,5, nous ne sommes tout de même pas loin du vinaigre à 3.

Capped 750 shared by Marcus. Pours coppery gold with a transient whitish head. Mild sourish aroma. Med body or so. Flavor is mild/moderate sour. Sour what? Fruits is my best guess. Some very nice and smooth wood. This is delicious and quite excellent. Wonderful stuff.

Flaska från Etre Gourmete. Smak och doft av trä, äpple, ladugård, hö, körsbär, citrus med toner av funk. Fin syrlighet, torr, viss strävhet, lagom sötma, fina aromer i god balans. Mycket gott!
