Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at Isobels, Eardisley, Herefordshire Saturday 24th December 2016 shared with Loz and Baz. Copper in colour with a large foamy white/off-white head. Some alcohol type aroma on the nose along with caramel and some pine resin. In the mouth the aforementioned aromas show here, along with a hint of the tropics, a bit of banana and overripe mangoes, it’s fruity alright but also a little hot from the alcohol, it’s pretty good though. Huge yellow, rather big-bubbled head, with lace over faintly veiled light-copper beer. Sweetish, caramel, and hops in the background at first, later more dry, bit of paint, unripe fruit, dry hopbales. Very bitter, resiny hops’ flavour, not fruity at all. Bananapeel, unripe banana. Also toasted, fiery, alcohol. Gets more and more bitter and wry in time, nearly pharmaceutical. Astringent, hopoil-dominated; good carbonation. What hops? Too crude, agressive flavours, misses fruitiness (compared to the WestCoast IIPA’s). Too much indifferent bitterness.

Bottle split at CBC Islo, thanks to Kenny Kenny .... O, 07/07/16. Hazed orange with a moderately appointed off white cap that soon collapses to nyadda. Nose is tangy tropical fruit esters, light spice, fruit loaf, candied fruit peel. Taste comprises lighter shades of Tropicana, bubblegum, peach, orange peel, soft bread, light spice. Medium + bodied, moderate to low carbonation, semi drying close. Mediocre, a touch flat and uncarbed, drinks below the ABV but doesn’t deliver DIPA (or TIPA) goodness for me.

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Co. Islington - London. Many thanks to Ken for this beast. Pours unclear orange-gold with a frothy, white head. The nose holds rindy and ripening citrus fruits, some minerality. Medium sweet flavour, boozy, with floral hops, dried orange rind. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, with bitter rind, light pine, ripe and dried orange. So so overall. Pretty heavy handed.

Bottle at Craft Islington, thanks to Kenny. It pours hazy orange - amber with a small white head. The aroma is fresh, juicy, tinned fruits, orangeade, tango, Irn Bru, sherbet, candy and some alcohol. The taste is bitter, punchy, earthy, wood, spice, dark fruit, tinned melon, candied citrus peel and alcohol heat. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Quite hot. I rather like the aroma, but the taste doesn’t deliver.
