Bottle at RB Best Fest 16: Could not pass up a chance to try another Italian Barley Wine. This one poured brown with a bubble head. Aroma was dark fruity and candy. Taste is similar as there is a lot of dark fruits prune and raisin forward, but also some sweet malt molasses, and sugar. Smooth finish not overly hot.

Draught at Open Baladin, Rome. Unclear, deep red colour with an amber tint. No head. Sweet aroma with rich caramel malts, overripe, red berries, sherry barrel, chocolate, nuts, light booze and vinous hints. Taste is sweet. Full body with an oily texture and a flat carbonation. Finishes sweet and fruity with sherry barrel and overripe fruits. Plums and tobacco. Fine BW with just a little bit too much sherry barrel to be really great.

Poured up via bottle at RBWG16 where it exhibits a nice deep mahogany colored body that has no head to support. The aroma is pulsing with molasses, a spicy black strap molasses note, deep dark grapiness and prunes. The taste delivers sweet prune and raisin richness that picks up a slight drying sensation. To midway it becomes a bit more dry as grape and wine like notes come to the surface. Into the finish it turns around as slick malts and molasses help close out the experience. Lovely barleywine sipper that has dangerous drinkability to it.

Bottle at the RateBeer Best Festival 2016. Pours brown with a creamy, tan head. Lots of leathery dark fruits in this one, along with light tart edges, earthy bitterness, even some faint cocoa. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with more ripening dark fruits and lightly toasted sugars. Good one.

Anfora-to-growler-to-taster at Festivus 2, 12/12/15.
Dark auburn-tinted mahogany beer shows low clarity and a mass of bubbles that quickly recedes.
Amarone-like grape character, with tons of earthiness, cement, toffee and herbal accents. Wow, this is certainly unique. Alcohol isn’t pervasive, but is certainly notable. Paper/cardboard oxidation juxtaposed with ripe berries, plums and such. Big dose of milk chocolate and caramel.
The flavor shows both the light oxidation, helping dry the sweet raisin-caramel character, and strong, bitter "herbal" character. Musty, dusty and with some light iron and salt notes to it. Heavy fruitiness on the finish, but too much astringency from the clay, toasted malt and oxidation. Not sure what to make of this one. Extremely unique, you can certainly say that.
