Medium brown colour, very silky head. Very low carbonation. Some oakiness comes through in the aroma. The head is quite sour on the lips. The mild malty flavour is quickly washed away by a quite citric, mildly acidic flavour. Later, a warming aftertaste.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark bread, dried fruit, raisins and caramel. Slightly spicy with a light acidity. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, ryvita, caramel, dried fruit, raisins, burnt sugar and a slightly spicy finish with a mild bitterness. More than medium body, with some sweetness. Clean, but a bit generic. Enjoyable.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, amber colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Moderately sweet and lemony fruity-sour aroma with light notes of cara-malt and yeasty spice. Sweet flavour with a tinge of sourness, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Cara-malty taste with lemon-fruity and mildly spicy notes; sweet and slightly sour-fruity finish with a tinge of caramel. Okay but not overly impressive. 21.III.11

Sharp and sour brown beer. Has a dry bitter finish. Not complex but quite drinkable.

Pours a little cloudy darkbrown beer with a big creamy light beige head. Aroma is amazing: dried prunes, raisins, red fruits, coffee and caramel. The palate is a little flat. Taste is mainly roasted malts, some mocha, caramel and acidic. Aftertaste is slightly acidic with hints of coffee. Contrary to what one would think after smelling the beer, it is not sweet at all, nor has it any hints of fruitiness. A bit of a disappointment.

Bottle at ’t Brugs Beertje. Pours dark reddish brown with a foamy, sturdy beige head. Really nice lacing. Aroma is dusty and acrid. Medium body with foamy, near creamy, carbonation. Flavor is slightly sour red wine. About 50% of Dissident. Though with a disturbing brown undertone. Would do justice to a big chunk of beef.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Very deep ruby colour with thick lasting rocky beige head. Perfumed strong Belgian ale aroma. Quite interesting and tasty and makes you want to try it again. Reminds me of a few of the really good dark beers, more of an abt than a dubbel. Good malts hold it up but this spicyness is really very good. Finished it in just a few minutes. Something like a toned down Rochefort 8 is my best analogy

Bottle, 6.5%. Spicy aroma, dark malts, slightly sweet and vinous, hint of yeast. Hazy brown colour. Stable light brown head. The flavour is also spicy, has a hint of metal. Drier than the aroma lets on. Roasted and vinous finish. A bit of yeast, but tolerable.

Bottled (from lahoublonniere.be). Deep reddish amber colour, not much head. Very lively when opening the bottle so beware... Aroma is caramel malts, burnt sugar, some yeast, mild roast and dark dry fruits. Flavour is rye, sweet dark fruits along with some burnt sugar and also sour wooden notes.
