Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a dark red body with hints of copper, white creamy looking head and lacing that sticks to the glass.
The smell was super malty with light bland apples.
The taste was malty, apples come back but in a bland way.
On the palate, it sat about at a light, sessionable, bland aftertaste and finish.
Overall, I used to really like this beer, but these days I really don’t see myself ever having this again.

Bottle. A- Sharpie markers, alcohol, malty, coffee. A- Amber color, hazy liquid, minimal head. T- Coffee, chocolate, creamy, malty, slightly sweet, slightly bitter. P- Light body, milky texture, average carbonation, flat finish. O- Odd aroma. Quite malty and thin but a decent flavor. Not really sure how I feel about this one. Not a favorite, but not horrible either.

Enjoyed at David’s place in Vegas. Pours a deep amber colour with bubbly yellow cap, good retention and creamy-foamy lace. Malty nose with caramel and roasted malts. Hints of coffee too. Burnt malt taste that lingers, all mildly of course. Not a bad red with decent roasted malts, just a little too light overall.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish amber with a medium off white head that dissipates quickly with a bit of lacing. Aroma is grain, caramel, chemicals. Flavor is medium sweet, bit of grass on the finish, but almost no bitterness.

Bland ale with a strange aftertaste that is not all that pleasant in the palate.

Pours a dark red with about a finger of white head. Aroma of caramel and honey. Taste is sweet. Lots of caramel and toffee. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. One of the better beers produced by Coors.

If we were judging by volume consumed, Killian’s Irish Red would be my number one beer, thanks to multitudinous college nights at The Georgia Theater and The Nowhere Bar in the late nineties. But it’s been a good seven years since I’ve had a Killian’s Red, and time has not been kind. Smells mildly sweet and dirty, with a little corny badness underneath. Pours better than your usual macro crap, with actual orange-red color and a thin off-white head. Tastes bad, though, conjuring up all those nightmare evenings where my only friends were sidewalk trashcans and homeless antiauthoritarians who would warn me of nearby cops. Dirty dishwater malts combine with a bubbly, useless texture to result in cleverly-masked macrobeer. Have a great night. (8/08)
