This American IPA is a blend of 3 different hop varieties which give it its characteristic bold hoppy aromas. It is smooth and full of flavour with a rich malty character, spicy notes and a long finish.

Bottle at my parents house, from JS thanks to the old man, 25/01/13. Hazed mid amber with a good sized frothy white head that retains well. Nose carries muted hop tones - dumbed down and not very fresh, caramel malts, orange, lemon sherbet, hint of soap, a general musty and tired aroma. Lots of descriptors but none make it score more than 5 ! Taste comprises faded hops, touch of pine, citrus, orange marmalade, caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, some hop bitterness in a dry finish. A pretty basic and below par IPA.

(Bottle from Sainsburys, Lee Green) Amber in colour with a thin/medium white head. Aroma/taste mix of caramel malts and citrus hops. Sweet initially but very bitter finish. Ok overall.

Amber in colour with a slight, off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and citrus fruit, with a hint of grassy hop. Flavour remained sweet, with more oranges, bready malts and a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle from Sainsburys, Lee Green. Honey coloured pour with a white head. Caramel, citrus and pear aroma. Sharp citrus tang on the palate. Slightly medicinal. Sharp bitter finish. Not too bad.

Bottle bought in Sainsbury’s, Beaconsfield, Bucks. An amber coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Hoppy, malty, fruity aroma. Tastes hoppy, fruity, malty, slightly bitter, hint of sweetness at the end. I quite liked this one.

355ml bottle. Clear orange amber colour, thin white head and malty tropical fruit hops aroma. Taste is smooth bitterness with sweetish malt and understated tropical hop flavours, through to a slightly spicy finish. OK American style IPA.

355ml bottle: poured into a ’Good People’ badged straight sleeve @ home on 8th Dec 2012. Clean amber body with a full, deep head of white foaming bubbles. Tropical fruit notes in the nose, semi-sweet esters with a malty overtone. The taste is very simular to the smells: exotic fruits and malty flavours blend nicely together giving the beer a fairly sweet feel. Well carbonated and almost fizzy in fact, even if the label claims it is smooth! I enjoyed this: certainly different to UK IPA’s but not as hoppy as other US IPA’s I’ve come across.

33cl bottle from Sainsburys, obviously. Clear amber, pale brown colour with thick beige head. American sweet hop aroma. Yes, it’s an american sweetish hoppyish IPA but not with enough hops. Some spicyness on the hops on the end is quite pleasant. It’s fine. Just needs more hops.

355ml bottle. Hazy amber with a loose cream head; pineapple aroma; soft in the mouth with some pineapple fruit and chewy malts; and a dry finish. Not a shining exemplar of the American IPA style.

355ml bottle. Pours dark gold with a medium, frothy head. Aroma is sweet, with pineapple and bread. Taste is sweet, a little pineapple, some astringency. Another boring new beer.
