Favourable pale ale with a fine hoppy nose and full of fruitiness in its flavour.

JDW Fest. Slightly hazy amber beer. Residual white head. Dryish palate. Dry malt. Some hop interest here but Nelson? A little bit of orange, very mild bitterness. Dry finish.

[Cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Had this immediately after the Feral the Runt and it suffered by comparison. Still fairly decent though - lots of bitter grapefruit with a bit of pine resin lurking in the background, But somehow lacked the character and distinctiveness of the Feral.

Cask, handpump at The Windmill JDW, Stanstead airport 08.04.11 Pours amber no head, touch boring for Roosters that said its fine enough beer. Mid bitterness, little fruity, fine but Roosters can do much better. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Cask @ Sir John Moore, JDW. Copper-orange colour off-wite head. Aroma is malty, fruity, sour, hint of dish cloth. Flavour is malty, fruity, grapefruits. Medium bodied and a fairly dry and slightly bitter finish. Very enjoyable.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 2/04/2011. Big, grapefruit, pine and lemon hop aroma with some balancing sweetness. Flavour was similarly hoppy, with a decent dry finish. Very good.

Cask at Baker Street Spoons, London. An amber coloured pour with a medium white head. Not much aroma to speak of but vaguely fruity. Tastes malty, fruity, no bitterness at all. It tasted really watery to me, quite disappointing. I drank half and left the other half. Poor ale, I expected more from this brewer.

Cask at the Tyburn, JDW. Clear, orange copper pour with a soft, white head. Oooh, this nose is inviting. Heavy citrus, like grapefruit and tangerine, with some pine and light malts. Damn fine flavor, some modest sugars and caramel, followed by a nice West Coast hop character. (West Coast USA, that is.) The bitterness is not too in-your-face but rather blends seemlessly with the understated malt character. Light to medium in body with soft, fine carbonation. Finishes with perfect balance, light bread and caramel and more citrusy, resiny hops. My one complaint would be the condition, which could be better. Aside from that, this is a great beer and a front-runner for my favorite beer of the Festival.

Cask handpull at JDW Horley. I have high hopes for this so hope it lives up to it. Slightly hazy copper colour. Lasting thin beige head. Citrus resiny US hop aroma. Well its a not bad stab at an APA I guess. A little lught on the malt backbone I guess but lots of hops. Resiny hops with some earthyness and good level of bitterness on the finish. Hops have some juicy pink grapefruit flavour. The bitter burn on the finish is fairly memorable. Best of the 4 festival beers I have had so far.
