This ale is traditionally highly hopped and robust to survive the long voyage to the Indian sub-continent. The result is a full-bodied Pale Ale with a zesty character. Dark golden in colour, pleasing toffee aromas, and distinctive floral citrus flavours.

Bottle, 5.5%. Sourish hop aroma. Hazy orange colour. Very small white head. The flavour has a distinct bitterness, slightly rough. There is also a fruity hop flavour. The rough hoppiness is cleansing.

(bottle) Hazy, orange-golden colour with a mid-sized foamy white head. Slightly dusty, woody, subtle fruity and spicy hoppy nose with a delicate sweet malty blend. Bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Dry malty base with shy notes of citrus, accompanied by spicy, herbal and slightly piney hops; dry and moderately bitter, slightly astringent finish with fruity notes in the aftertaste. Likeable but lacks a bit balance (15.II.09).

Bottle from John Lewis, London (Oxford St.)
Hazy light amber color; small compact head, with a beautiful lace. The aroma is breadish, a bit malty. Some malt flavor, dry mouthfeel in the beginning, with some vegetables; good hopping; the final is powerful, maybe even overly bitter. A good British IPA.

The flavour is distinctly hoppy from start to finish, with a substantial bitterness. Also some notes of toffee. Very bitter and sharp aftertaste. A solid British IPA this one.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with an average foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of floral hops with some dry caramel malt. Taste is also a mix between some dry floral English hops and some light dry caramel malt. Average body with some good carbonation. English hops are dominant though not as extreme as an US style IPA.

A hazy dark amber ale with a thin off white head. Initially skunkyness followed by a pleasant sweet caramel and british hops. In mouth, a good crisp sustained bitterness mixes well with the caramel malt. In post mouth, the bitterness is overpowering and bilous, a bit too much. Medium bodied. BB 02/07/09. LCBO X-as gift pack.

Bottle, at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Gothenburg. A clear, golden body with a decent off-white head leaving lacings. Quite malty nose, with grains. Also grapefruit and some pinecones. Fruity, floral hops in the mouth, giving bitterness. Grapefruit and pinecones balancing caramel maltyness. Quite dry, full-bodied. Pineapple, grapefruit and a nice bitterness in the finish. A quite nice one. There’s something in it that I can’t identify, but nothing unpleasant. The beer need some temperature to reveal itself. (080710)
