We originally brewed this collaborative project with Broaden & Build from Copenhagen. This blood orange IPA was a favourite of ours and as such we were saddened to hear that this young and experimental brewery would be closing their doors after such an amazing first year. Fermented with Kviek ale yeast and utilising blood orange in the whirlpool, the resulting beer bursts with flavours of orange pulp, lemon and grapefruit on top of a soft malt base.

From backlog. Slightly fruity, a bit sweetish and tartish with hints of orange, tropical notes and grapefruit. Decent, but doesn't feel super fresh.

440ml can (6% ABV) in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury on 30th Oct 2020. Decent white crown on the misty yellow body, more mixed citrus fruits than 'blood orange' forward. OK, but wanted some orange flavours!

440 ml can, from Seven Cellars. ABV is 6.0%. Hazy pale yellow colour, large white head. Pleasant aroma of citric hops (yes, blood oranges), also hints of tropical fruits and spruce. Citric flavour too (blood orange again), on a sufficient malt base. Hints of tropical fruits, pine needles and sprucetips, with a moderate resinous bitterness in the finish.

Draft. An unclear dark yellow beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of citrus fruits, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of citrus fruits, hops, straw, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

440ml Can sophiesbeerstore.co.uk. Lightly hazy yellow appearance, loose bubbly white head. Aroma is citrus forward, taste similarly citrussy with only a little pithiness suggesting a blood Orange addition, certainly not jumping out as orangey in character. Tickling bitterness. Overall expected more orange, but it's a delectable citrussy IPA all the same.

Can. Light haze on this yellowish gold beer, good bubbly pale cream colour head. Airy palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, reasonably sweet. Bright spicy citrus here, wouldn't know blood orange had been added, tastes like hop derived fruits. Smooth pine runs through mandarin, light tangerine and a trace of lemon. Light finish brings modest hop spice. There is a little bit of thin feel here but it's a nit pick on a pretty crushable IPA.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up at the brewery taproom in Bermondsey. Pours hazy orange-gold with a modest, foamy white head. Not bad, interesting, with restrained sweetness, semi-ripe citrus fruits, some rindy bitterness, background pale bread. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Subtle warmth in the finish, notes of orange peel, a little jammy citrus, bready pale malts, suggestions of pine. Decent sauce.

Keg at the brewery taproom bermondsey. A hazed dirty gold coloured pour with a lasting fine white head. Aroma is subdued, waxy citrus, tangy orange, wheat. Flavour is composed of rounded wheat, orange rind, zippy citrus, wax, chalk. Zest lime. Palate is semi sweet, tangy, frorhy airy carbonation. Tangy finish. Good punchy bitterness. Nice.
