The 12th in a series of beers brewed to celebrate our first festival, Friends & Family & Beer, is a Sweet Coconut and Chai Stout brewed with our friends from Monkish, Other Half, Trillium and The Veil. Infused with Bundobust's chai spice blend, as well as coconut, vanilla and almonds, this unique dark beer is one to take your time over, unravelling its many layers.
Aroma & Flavour: Cardamom and clove lead, blending with cocoa and coconut cream, and followed by cinnamon, warm ginger and sweet vanilla
Body: Full-bodied, luscious, rich and silky
Aftertaste: Sweet coconut and toffee, but with dryness provided by a lasting spice heat

440ml can @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, May '19. I will assume Paolo brought this. Pours black with a discouragingly worrisome patchy brown topping, though we all whittled this down to the coconut oil present. Aroma is intense vanilla chai, taste continues, thick chocolate, coconut.. yeah like it.

26th May 2019, Shrewsbury Beer Exchange Group meeting in Chez Sophie. Four other guys to share with. 440ml can: BB 30th Oct 2019. Black pour with a thin wispy covering. Coconut with everything, luckily I like coconuts. Fairly sweet with a vanilla smoothness body wise.

Can shared in London - many thanks to Mr. Frog. Pours dark brown with a filmy residue on top, along with a thin, creamy tan head. Really nice, with notes of cinnamon, cocoa, graham crackers. Medium to full bodied, for sure oily, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more spices, a little chocolate, toasted coconut. Interesting and quite fun overall (aside from the appearance).

Level 6 bottleshare. Thanks to Fergus for the can. Almost opaque dark brown beer, thin tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Rich smooth chocolate and some slightly burny spice. Lots of sweet cinnamon and a little coconut. Slick finish. Flavoursome but over spiced.

Tap. Darkest brown color with beige-ish head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, cinnamon, some other spices, quite and spiced up. Taste is the same. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Alright.

440ml can. Pours jet black with a disgusting tan head, bubbles and sediment from the coconut oil separating, despite keeping and serving cold as CW recommended. Aroma is spicy, chai, coconut, chocolate. Taste dominated by chai spice, ginger, cardamom, coconut, sweet chocolate and vanilla, roast malts, the finish is spicy and warming, like a mild chilli. Full body, soft carbonation. Shame about the appearance but the beer itself is great, very complex.
