Draft @ the Ale House. Tulip shows a deep mahogany color with thin lasting white head. Tantalizing aroma of dark fruit caramel, and Belgian yeast. Weighing in at 10% alcohol, I thought this would be over powering alcohol on draft. It wasn’t! You can taste the grains of paradise in the flavor; although with cinnamon, orange peel, plums, raisins, and caramel. The palate is full bodied and very complex, with a sweet finish. Texture on the tongue is extremely smooth. Damn, this is a nice beer!

I have liked everything I have had from Ommegang, and this is no exeception. Amber colour with light malt aroma. Another full bodied ale with lots of caramel malt flavour. Malty sweet finish. Strong but does not taste so.

Purchased a while ago and now finally enjoying at fridge temp in a wine glass.
A - Almost no head produced at the pour. murky dark plum coloured ale.
S - Identity crisis on the nose. Sweet orange peel, brown sugar, candi sugar, loads of spices. It smells like a saison.
T - Very sweet up front. Middle is dominated by spices lie coriander. Finish has some citrus, big malts and nutmeg. Last taste as it fleets away is super in y our face sweet almost too much.
M - 50/50 carbonation on the mouth swish. Medium body. way too sweet for me.
O - This is a nice winter beer but too sweet.

Growler 32oz: Poured a reddish orange tone with a bubbly white head. Aroma was full on bubblegum and spice. Taste is spicy, citrus fruit, and sweet malts. Definitely a winter style beer as I could feel my cheeks and mouth warming.

Draught. Murky brown. Thin head. Has a Christmas cake aroma with the candied fruit, ginger and whatnot. Liquorice character is strong. The malts have a nice caramel note. Cinnamon and some other spices dominate, with a little bit of alcohol coming in late. Kind of harsh and unbalanced.

Location: 750 ml bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 2/28/12
Aroma: It is rather sweet, with fruity notes and sweet malts, plus some more subtle yeast and spice
Appearance: Pours a hazy reddish color with a thick, creamy beige head and drippy lace on the glass
Flavor: It is fairly balanced between the sweetness and the spice, with hardly any bitterness present
Palate: Drinks rather smoothly, a creamy feel, a tingly carbonation, light heat, and a medium-full body
Overall Impression: I thought this was another interesting offering from Ommegang. I guess I don't really need to go all the way to Arkansas to buy a beer from NY, but sadly this one is significantly cheaper down here then it is only a few hours from the brewery where I live. I found it to be a nice offering, it has an interesting combination of fruit, a fairly unusual mix of spices, and yeast that works pretty well in my opinion. I'd certainly drink this one again.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy amber / maroon with a small beige head. Aroma of vanilla, cinnamon, cardamon, caramel and dark fruits - like a Belgian winter ale. Flavour of vanilla, cinnamon cardamom, some caramel and candied fruits. Excellent incorporation of the spices. Great blend of the winter ale character into a Belgian Strong. Very enjoyable.

750 ml bottle shared by csbosox. Pour is a hazed brown copper along with an off white head. Aroma is quite bright, heavily spiced, some sweet bubble gum notes, cinnamon, and pronounced cooking brown sugar. A bunch going on in the nose, and it does not all necessarily meld together real well. Taste is perfume floral sweet, the cooking brown sugar, banana esters, big yeasty spice, some fig dried fruit, and finishing with the residual yeast. Palate is medium to heavy bodied, coats the mouth fully, finish is long with the yeast spice. I did not realize the abv was 10% on this, it was not noticeable. Thanks for sharing this one Chris.

Draft at Dexters. Unfiltered amber-brown. Thin, oily head. A pretty solid Winter Warmer. Lots of spicy notes, from cinnamon to pineapple. Sweet, malt centered. Some alcohol warmth. Big and rich. Cinnamon, nutmeg, you name it. Solid.

On tap at the Nook. Pours dark brown with a medium head. The aroma is figs, dates, lots of sweet spices, caramel, and dark bread. The flavor is very sweet, with only a hint of bitterness. The palate is heavy, sticky, and syrupy and clings to your mouth. The aftertaste is sweet and slightly sour. Overall, this is a strong and tasty beer.
