Dark golden yellow to orange clear beer. White irregular head, non adhesive. Aroma: caramel, malt, a touch of hops, spices, and oh my god, the alcohol on this one! Mf: soft carbon, full body, creamy to syrupy texture. Taste: caramel, sweet malts, hop. Aftertaste: sugar, hops, spices, some citrus / grapefruit and the numbing alcohol. Ok, I know us Belgians are proud to have a lot of heavy beers, but this wasn't really necessary.

Originally rated December 2005. This is the last of the three Bière du Boucanier reviews. Save the best for last, as this one has 11% ABV. It pours a cloudy golden-orange colour with a big head (but not as big as the two other beers... unless I just learnt how to pour these brews). The lacing is awesome with some thickness, foaming and nice design. Belgian yeast nose with some fruit and very slight caramel. Nice slick mouthfeel, clean, but not watery. The taste is very smooth too, but with some nice bite. Some oranges and citrus, with mild bitterness and a clean finish. Found also some darker fruits and a bit of molasses. Great strong Belgian blonde, recommended.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers. Pours gold with a slight haze, thinnish off white head. Some quite strong candied tangerine aroma, with a bit of hot alcohol. It’s a strongish syrupy blond, with very candied orange based fruits, but not totally horrible. It has some nice points to it as well. It holds it all together pretty well. Alcohol isn’t overly present, but certainly warming. Decent

Bottle, 11%. Vinous and citric aroma, quite bretty. Clear dark golden colour. Big white head, quite stable, leaves a lot of lace and turns quite uneven. The flavour is quite peppery and bretty. Quite harsh alcohol aftertaste. Very high carbonation.

Pours deep clear gold with three inch rocky off white head. The aroma has a nice load of yeasty spice and seemingly a touch of coriander. Then the nose moves toward banana, some sweet malts, light colored fruity esters and floral hops. Another pull brings in some dark sweet grapes. The taste is initially punctuated by carbonation creating a pulse of sweet light colored fruity esters of apples, apricots and then raisins mixing with lightly kilned or roasted malts. It then becomes a tad peppery as notes of yeasty spice rise up to be heard. To midway and the finish raisins are joined by prune notes as well as bountiful floral hop and earthy hop flavors. The hops only reach a mild bitterness and linger into the finish. Pretty nice stuff. I wish I could tell how old this bottle is.

Pours cloudy goldne, white head. Aroma, yeasty, hoppy, some banana notes, really came off as as a typical aroma. Taste, hoppy, fruity (banana, vailla?), malty with some honey. Afine Belgian ale.

Bottle. Amber beer with a huge cvream colored head. Yeasty, bready, spicy aroma. Malty, estery fruit flavor with yeast and spice. Medium body. Yeast, spice, breadiness, and light fruit linger. Nice complexity. Alcohol slightly noticeable.
