This one didn’t work as well for me. With this powerful aging, it’s important to like the liquid it has aged on. Since I don’t really like jenever, I found this beer too sharp and boozy. Perhaps it’s better for jenever lovers.

Draft at the Kaapse Beer festival. Pours cloudy golden brown with an off white head. Aroma of light fruits, vinous aspects, jenever coming out but not as obnoxiously as I thought it might. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Bottle from Ben. Hazy amber colour, thin white foam. Soft carbonation. Fruity aroma with notes of brown sugar and apricot. Very sweet boozy aftertaste. Alcoholic finish. Too sweet and boozy, not very well balanced.

Draft @ Novare Res. Hazy amber /orange color without any head. Aroma of oak, musty basement, odd malt notes, sugar and fruit.
Flavor is yeasty and grainy. Apricot and light sour peach notes. Gin gin barrel gives a little kick of alcohol in the finish. Body is medium with a chewy texture. Soft carbonation. The alcohol is here without a doubt, nice warming sensation after the sip. Overall this has a level of complexity. Pretty good.

75 cl. bottle – THX! to Kraddel for this one. 1755 bottles made. Bright very reddish amber, creamy, smaller but solid white head. Cheap white spirit comes through very heavily in the nose, light sweetish flowers, touch caramel but hard to pick out anything below the spirit. Jenever taste with fresh wood barrel blended with lots of sweetness, alternative grains HtD style, lots of spices, strong white spirit, herbal spirit blended with strong alternative grains dominates, agreeable but not the nobles of spirits here. Lightly creamy, touch less carb. Well it is exactly as promised but needed either higher quality, execution or Jenever is really not the spirit to go although I have had a successful execution by a different brewery so far.

Corked bottle, courtesy of Jesper
Cloudy light amber color; frothy and short lived head. Some smell of yeast and vegetables, light caramel. Highly carbonated; some malt flavor, with light aniseed flavor, boozy, some residual sweetness, traces of vegetables. Problematic brew.
Controversial.
