19 April 2025. GBV 2012 Vintage Proeverij Hof Ten Dormaal @ Dracuna. Cheers to the whole crew!
Ripe blue grape, brambleberries, cherry tomato, beef stock. Sweet-sourish blackcurrant, grape; soy sauce, meat & clove. Woody, bit toasty finish, clove, dessert wine-like alcohol warmth. There's a complex beer underneath it all, but this is too weird and messy.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast upfront, along with light oak. Flavour is very yeasty, with Belgian yeast, light rubber, and barely any barrel quality. Seems to be a bit oxidized. Not overly complex and the booze isn't that apparent. Not so thrilling.

On tap at the Kuliminator, Antwerp, Saturday 8th February 2014. Dark in colour with slight head. I was quite surprised by this as I had the vast majority of these barrel aged beers by Hof Ten Dormaal (during my period of not rating about a year ago) and hadn’t been the least bit impressed I also seem to recall that most of them if not all had been lighter in colour than this, but I have to say that I enjoyed this beer. The barrel ageing had done a good job. Some dark fruits such as raisin came through, there was the merest of a fruity tang to this, but overall just a good sipper and very nice beer. From a 75 cl bottle shared at Ryan’s on Christmas morning. Pours a hazy light cola with a thin off white head. Vinous nose. Flavors of sherry, oak and plums. Medium to heavy bodied, light carbonation, sweet boozy finish.

28/IX/13 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: n/a (2013-904)
Clear purple brown beer, small aery off-white to beige head, well it's more just a bunch of big bubbles, unstable and dissipating quickly. Aroma: sweet, caramel, wine, spicy, nutmeg, alcohol, sweet chocolate, bit sugary. MF: soft to no carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, caramel, bit fruity, red berries, tannins, orange peel, some almonds. Aftertaste: caramel, madeira, orange peel, alcohol, pretty sugary, somewhat nutty, chocolate notes again.

Bottle sample @ 18de Kerstbierfestival, Essen 2012.
