Brown with a frothy, beige head. Aroma earthy with light roasted tones, a good dollop of caramel, and hints of figs. Taste is bittersweet, a mix of coffee bitterness and malty, caramel & fig-like sweetness. Bitter and lightly fruity at the finish. Body to the full side of medium, mild carbonation, chewy, a bit warming but not quite boozy. Good overall balance. Nice one!

Darker brown. Aroma is melasses, soy sauce, light cranberry, grandma's curtain. Taste is quite umami with a few sugary deep melasses flavours. A bit musty. Ok.

Bottle (from Rewe Freising), on the train from Schwanndorf to Amberg, Bamberg post Christmas jolly day 1 - 24/01/14. Pours clear amber with a creamy, beige head. The nose holds toffee, earth, dried fruits, leather. Moderately sweet with light toffee, coffee, dried berries, dates. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, more leathery aged fruits, mellow cocoa and toasted toffee. Tasty.

This might be from Fin, if so, thanks! Bottle enjoyed after recovering from a cold, this is one well-yearned-for beer. Nice medium dark red-brown, thin head that doesn't last too long. Nose is freshly baked hazelnut bread with brown sugar, which is a good start. Taste is quite sweet indeed, nutty, slightly oily/syrupy mouthfeel, not much bitterness on the finish. Mid complexity for a Doppelbock I'd say. Leaves a pleasant toasted-nuts finish on the palate.

Bottle picked up from the Brewery/Gasthof, yesterday and consumed at home Sunday 1st November 2020 listening to Fontaines DC - A Heroes Welcome and having cooked (still cooking) Belgian Beef Carbonnade. Please note this is 7% now not 8%, correction sent to adnin'. Chestnut brown in colour with a scarlet hue piercing through, the head disappeared quickly on the first one so I had another, it lasted a little longer and was light beige in colour. Tangy, a little tart, fruity but with cocoa in and amongst. It's good but not great.

Bottle from Shrubber85, thanks! Dark brown color. Maltaroma with caramel and chocolate. Full bodied. Malty roasty flavor with chocolate and caramel. Sweet with a sticky mouthfeel, but tasty and characterful.

Clear amber brown colour, good two finger frothy beige head, diminishing slowly, light lacing. Aroma roasted malts, caramel, cocoa, rye bread. Taste light heavy sweet, light bitter, roasted malts, toffee, bit chocolate, nutty notes. Smooth mouthfeel, sweetbitter middle part leads to a bittersweet finish, roasty touch, chocolate, bit boozy, medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Smooth and rich doppelbock, very nice.

Flasche (33 cl) im Brauereigasthof Eichhofen. - Tiefes Kupferrotbraun, klar; sahniger beigefarbener Schaum.

On tap at PINT Bokbierfestival 2015. Clear, reddish amber with a creamy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of brown sugar, caramel, nuts and hints of coffee. Sweetish-malty taste of brown sugar, caramel and nuts, followed by a short, slightly bitter, coffeish finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good.

Sampled from bottle @ Eindhovens Bierfestival. Clear dark amber to amber - brown color, small to average sized off-white to beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Smell and taste malts, a bit sweetish, malt sweetness, a hint of leaves, a hint of chestnut, hazelnuts, lightly a malt bitter hint in the finish as well. Decent body and carbonation.
