(Cask at Kings Arms, Bethnal Green, London, 31 May 2025) Amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty nose with caramel, toffee, nuts and syrupy malt. Malty, nutty taste with notes of caramel, toffee, apricots and a mild earthy bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced bitter. Quite nice.

Hand pumped at Malto, Riccione, Italy. Pours dark blonde, amber, fairly transparent, with fine white foam. Aroma is malty and earthy. Body is average, with no carbonation. Taste is fairly bitter, probably felt more importantly because of the low alcohol level. Bitterness is very persistent in the final.

Golden amber with creamy head. Earthy, floral hops in the aroma with malty and caramel notes. Pleasantly malty, cookie-like taste, with a touch of toffee, some citrus and fruitiness, and then comes the earthy, herbal and spicy hop bitterness. Very good.

Keg at Sutton Arms, Clerkenwell. Low key citrus aroma. Opaque gold. Thin white head. Light citrus. Light bitter. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long finish. Is this the right beer, a bitter? More of a Pale?

Cask @ Mermaid, Hackney. Deeper amber with a head. It has a deeper tasting hoppy mid-bitterness. It has a few malts too.

Cask at the Kings Arms - Hackney. Not noted as a collab this year. Pours clear honey gold with a small, creamy white head. Pretty classic, some leafy hops, bitter grass, toasted grains, straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation; alright condition. Bitter leafy-grassy finish, touches of British yeast. Not bad.

Cask at the Euston Tap, West Lodge, 21/05/18. Clear golden with a decent off white cap that retains well ... excellent full glass lacing ensues. Nose is bready malts, grains, biscuit crumbs, straw, light floral tones. Taste comprises pale malts, toasted grains, crackers, bread dough, apple skin, faint citric bite, grassy. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with mellow bitterness. Decent clean drinking golden bitter affair.

Cask at the old fountain, a clear mid golden orange coloured pour with a lasting white froth. Aroma is semi sweet malts. Vanilla, toffee, apple, amber malts. Flavour is composed of semi sweet amber malts, toffee, raisin bread, brown sugars, little fuggle like hop. Palate is semi sweet, decent cask condition. Little oily. Passable.

Old Fountain. Cask. Almost clear pale gold beer, decent pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, fairly dry, very mild carbonation. Smooth malts provide modest sweetness, touch of grain. Little ripe citrus, mild orange peel. Light floralness. Soft finish leaves a mild bitter linger. Adequate.

Pint at the Pelt Trader. It's rare to find a beer called a "best bitter," but this was a classic example of the type. An emphasis on the malt made for drinkability while the hopping added interest. It helped that the beer was in perfect condition and was just plain enjoyable.
