A fluffy ivory brown head. The nose is quite faint, with elements malt and chocolate. Chocolate and cream lead the taste profile, which is unusual for a brown ale, to say the least. That said, this is an understated, well blended beer with sub-tastes of mild grassy hops and roasted nuts. A bit off category but it all hangs together.

Nutty, good cereal malts, light citrus, piney hops. Lovely pine resin finish with a shot of nutty, woody malts. Great stuff.

Tasting at Matt’s
Dark brown color. Stale chocolate aroma. Roasted malts, light chocolate, a bit puckery, with too much bitterness in the final.
Not very good.

Muddy, thin head. Dull aroma is mostly phenolic, but with a touch of nuttiness. Moderate bitterness, a bit thin, and this hasn’t got either much body or much malt complexity. It’s been a while since I had anything from this brewery, but honestly this isn’t to the level I remember from them.

355mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out stale bready malts, some earth and toasted caramel. Flavour is better, with a decent blend of hops and roast. Not very deep, but it's reasonable enough.

Cap and flip-top bottle from the LCBO. Pours a dark amber, almost copper colour with a big head, warm-beige, frothy, creamy, long lasting and with lots of lace. At first, chocolate and mild vanilla aromas, with some grassy hops and fruity notes coming later. The taste is more on the dark roasted malts and the hops gets stronger in the finish. Decent dry mouthfeel, but still refreshing overall. Hints of fruits and nuts. Closer to a watery stout that meets an IPA. Still, a pretty good crossover brew.

Bottle from the LCBO. Deep clear mahogany with a one finger tan head that lingers and leaves some spotty lace. Nose of chocolate, nuts and wood. with some grassy hop presence. Light sweet toffee and nut with a more pronounced chocolate and pine bitterness. Medium light creamy mouth with soft carbonation. Interesting hybrid but I still prefer a good black IPA.

A reddish copper ale with a thin off white head. In aroma, weird grassy malt with light off notes, roasted character. In mouth, light watery nutty malt with grassy hops, light chocolate, OK.

This IBA poured a deep brown colour with a big, beautiful, tan coloured, rocky head. Not much lacing. To the nose there are scents of gravy, dough and dark malts. Very strong smelling in the gravy dept. First sip was interesting with strong hop flavours and roasted malts with a little caramel and light coffee. Finish is bitter withy the roasted malts and coffee lingering.

Can: Poured a clear medium brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of grainy malt with light dry caramel notes with some funky and lightly citrusy hops notes. Taste is a weird mix between some unrefined grainy cereal notes and some stale hoppy notes with light citrus undertones. Body is about average with good carbonation. I either got a bad can of this or maybe it just didn’t fit my style but I though the hops were stale and lacking and the malt base used wasn’t the greatest.
