Why should everything be so black and white? Our collaboration with Steel City begs to differ. With huge amounts of lactose and loads of oats, dosed heavily with cocoa nibs, tonka beans and vanilla, we give you a pale beer with stoutish character. With a thick, luxurious body and complex profile full of rich flavours this beer is deceptive. Thick custard, sweet condensed milk and a dash of nutmeg are some of the flavours this beer exudes.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Clapton Craft. Pours mostly clear gold with a big, frothy white head. Tasty stuff, has some creamy vanilla, mild citrus, pale bread, nips of coffee and cocoa. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Finishes with more pale bread, dry chocolate, light milky coffee. Enjoyable stuff.

330ml bottle. Pours murky dull golden orange with a frothy white head. Aroma of coconut, vanilla, tonka beans, milk chocolate. Taste of strong coconut, vanilla, tonka beans, chocolate, herbal hops, bitter finish. Medium body, lovely thick smooth mouthfeel, soft carb. No mention of coconut in the description despite tasting an enormous amount of it. Not the best white stout I've had in terms of flavour.

Cask at Pig’s Ear 2017. It pours clearish gold with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, oily, fruity, white chocolate, vanilla and milk bar. The taste is slick, sweet, oily, sugary, white chocolate, sticky, cracker, vanilla, touch of green veg and a bit of alcohol. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty unusual that’s for sure. A fun idea, but I don’t think the flavours come together in a harmonious fashion.

Cask at The 34th Pig’s Ear & Cider Festival, Hackney, London. A hazy golden/amber coloured pour with a thin white head on top. Aroma of milk chocolate, coconut and vanilla. Tastes pretty much the same, milk chocolate, coconut, vanilla. Decent enough.
