Does exactly what it says on the….. well pump clip. An easy drinking favourite among many, Citra Burst is a light golden India pale ale with resinous pine and citrus flavours and light aroma of citrus zest.

Bright clear gold beer, untidy small white head. Palate is light and smooth, semi dry, light fine carbonation. Light smooth malt, very light dry cream. Hops are spicy ripe orange with light floralness, Finishes light and dry. Drinkable but slightly clunky.

Bottle from Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Lightly hazed, pale amber. Sticky, bubbly, white head. Slightly fusty, buttery aroma. No burst of hops. Or anything, really. Taste is dry and fairly bitter. Palate is oily, with soft carbonation. Finish is bitter, with a little spicy dryness.

Hazy light amber, lots of blackberry hops, biscuity malts, a bit of juicy tartness, also dried peaches. A bit stronger and sweeter than it needs to be, but a nice brew.

Cask handpull at Draft House Charlotte Street London. Eek diacetyl. Wow a butter monster. Which is a shame as the hop and condition is good. Just way too much diacetyl.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Clear golden body with a thin white head. Average carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of zingy grapefruit soap and shortbread. Lovely bright flavour of grapefruit and tangerine. Medium body with an oily texture. Nice carbonation fizz that lifts the sharp fruity flavours. Just my sort of Golden Ale - tangy, bitter, well balanced and supremely drinkable.

Cask at Cloisters, Edinburgh. Clear golden colour, foam white head leaving lots of lacing and citrusy hop aroma. Taste is sweet juicy rockmelon, with some cloying marzipan, biscuit notes, and a lingering citrusy hop bitterness. Slick mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish. Quite drinkable.

Very nice citra on top here. Tastes more like an IPA than a golden ale with this hops profile. Nice nose and very bitter finish. Some sweet candied malt. Pours awesome cloudy bright orange. Some pine and grapefruit as well. Cask Days 2013.
