33cl bottle direct from the brewery. A pale amber pour with a slight hazy and a ring of white head; heady floral grape must aroma; delightfully tart in the mouth with pungent gooseberries at first, followed by a pleasant warmth; then a tart, crisp, sour finish. Everything that’s good about the standard Calypso, but magnified x2.

Almost clear gold beer, small pale cream colour head. A few floaters blot the visual landscape. Palate is light and mildly dry. A guezey tartness here, whisper of citrus and bourbon but also a stronger acetic - vinegar thing. Light semi dry finish. Doesn’t really work.

Thanks again to Jack for this one. Aroma has a mild sour yeast bite. Quite bitter and dry. Grape skin and dried flowers. I did not like the flavors here as much as the two others I tried.

Bottle shared by Jack, thanks! Pours a hazy deep orange gold with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of oak and earthy wheat with a slight tart gooseberry note. Flavor has an earthy tart gooseberry with earthy wheat and a decent amount of oak.

Keg at Siren. It pours cloudy gold with a tiny white head. The nose is fresh, funky, juicy, gooseberry, white currant, vanilla, toasty coconut and orange peel. The taste is crisp, tart, sour gooseberry, sherbet, lactic, vanilla, cheesecake, good mouth-pucker, white currant and wood with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good mouth-pucker. Refreshing.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, consumed at home Thursday 9th July 2015 Pours light gold with a white head. It’s a good fruity nose, slight plastic edge, but I like it, but I wouldn’t have necessarily guessed gooseberry. It’s juicier, there is tangy slightly unripe berries once again softened by barrel ageing. Tart but not quite as sour or with the linger or dryness that the Dragon and Passion. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.7
