This will really put the curl back in your tail. Crack open the cap and the astringent characteristic bitter aroma of dry cider apples assaults your snout. However, the taste of Truffler is more subtle than its nose, with a bittersweet flavour note and a much longer finish than a typical dry cider. Just when you think it’s all over, Truffler offers just a welcome hint of sweetness that gives a long, rounded finish without compromising the dry character of this classic Somerset cider.
The perfect mate for classic British bangers & mash or a steak pie.

Bottle@The Flying Horde JDW, Gatwick - golden pour with thin dissipating bubbly head on pour. Aroma and taste is orchard apple fruity, medium to high carbonation, nice tart and crispness on the palate leading to pleasing dry finish. Great cider.

Bottle @ White Hart, Todmorden. Clear pale yellow with a carbonation. Certainly crisp and with a dryness, but there’s plenty of apple flavour and has a decent, if not a touch skunky, nose.

500ml bottle from Bier Huis. Clear yellow golden colour, short-lived thin bubbly white head and aroma of tart apple, apple skins, woody, barnyard. Taste is fruity apple, apple skins, vanilla, bittersweet, nicely rounded with some light barnyard and tannin. Slightly oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, low to medium carbonation, dry sourish light tannic finish. Very drinkable cider.

50cl bottle from the Haymarket. Appearance - golden with steady bubbles and no head. Nose - dry tart apples. Taste - more of the same. Palate - medium bodied with a tight tangy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - very refreshing. A change to get a bone dry cider these days.

Bottle from Waitrose and drunk on the train to Ashford. Clear gold lasting white head. Dry aroma. Dry apple cider throughout. Wow. You don’t tend to get this aggressive dry parching cider in a supermarket. Rather remarkable. I must admit I really like it. Funny as it’s best drink I have had today. Sweet apple fruit and then a dessicating finish. Finish is really good

500ml bottle. One of those ciders I put off opening for a while due to the patronising, truly irritating description and ’pig’ references on the bottle. Open it up however and it’s actually a great cider. Well-balanced with a little touch of barnyard funk, a tang of acidity, a tanic nod and crisp, sweet apple flavours that blossom as you make your way through. Very nice.

Bottle from Hog & Partridge, St Neots. A light yellow cider with less carbonation that would normally be expected. Lovely aroma of woody funk and fruit. The taste is sweeter than the aroma promises, too much like a commercial keg cider but still nice. Worth drinking for cider-heads.

Bottle shared at the ChrisO Flags of Many Nations Easter Tasting 2013 - London. Pours clear, pale yellow with a fine, white film head. Pukey apple aroma, sugary rotting fruits. Big sweet flavor with quick dryness and light basement. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Dry finish, musty, light sweetness, some funky apples. Decent.
