Gouden Carolus Indulgence [Indulgence, noun, \in-'dәl-jәn(t)s\ something that is done or enjoyed as a special pleasure] is a limited series of beers brewed every year with varying content. These ‘Indulgence’ brews are exclusive delights to be savoured at special moments or shared with special people.
Cuvée Sauvage is the 2nd taste to be produced under this label. Gouden Carolus Cuvée van de Keizer Rood was blended with 2- and 3-year-old Lambic (20%) from the Boon Brewery (Lembeek). This union combines the best of two brewing traditions: full-bodied and subtly flavoured, fruity and refreshingly sour.

Tap at Huppel the Pub, Den Haag: Cloudy yellow gold coloured brew with an sweet bitter taste with an subtle sour. Hints of peach, tart fruits and marzipan.

On tap at the 2023 Belgian Brewers Bash. Murky gold big white head. Nose is interesting, big drippy fruit. Apricot and peach. Then straw and some big tart bitter notes. Huh. It's good but not what I expected. A touch sweet on the finish. 7 4 7 3 12

2022 version at Beergeek Bar. Hazy golden body, off-white head. Sweet apple estery aroma, sweetish, light glue. Sweet cidery taste, some glue, malty, tasty, interesting, light herbal touches, somewhat dusty. Okay but odd. Well hidden alcohol though!

Rich, honey gold goblet tap pour @MeddlesomeMoth. Mostly clear, oily dark gold; lacy. Slippery, yeasty base, low spice. Sweet & sour layer from the lambic; like a sour honey. Yeasty, apple, slight orange on a bittersweet earth finish. Mellow & deliciously chill. Somehow simpler than standard Carolus, but it's been a very long time. Bit heavy. Nicely warming. Really great.

On tap in the sunshine, outside Cafe Zandloper, Brugge on 5th September 2022. Mini-haze to the golden pour, white crown on top. Yeasty, fruity and highly carbonated, semi-sweet, yet semi-bitter also.

75cl Fles, destijds gekocht bij Vonk. Had dit bier zuurder verwacht na al die tijd. Mild zuurtje, hout, oude tripel, koekjes, appelmoes, fruitig, bitterzoete finish met een klein zuur randje. Medium body. Prettig bier.

(Bottle) Golden amber colour with lasting, white head. Fruity, sourish nose with apples, pears, peaches, barnyard, wood, elderflower and ripe fruit. Fruity, tart taste with notes of orange, ripe fruit, peaches, yellow apples, pears, barnyard, mild wood flavours, marzipan, spices and a sweetish finish with a balanced tartness. Low bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Complex, with lots of flavours. Elegant and really tasty. Very nice.
