Bottle from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Keighley, as Sainsbury's English Vintage Cider at 6.8%. Golden coloured cider with a deep tasting apple, full through its notable strength and fairly sweet too - perhaps a tad overbearing.

Bottle at home picked up from Sainsbury's. As Sainsbury's taste the difference english vintage cider 6.8% A clear yellow golden coloured pour with a fine white fizz. Aroma is semi sweet, clean apple, plastic, juicy apple. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, apple juice, clean, hides the abv well. Hint of tang in the finish. Palate is semi sweet, fine mellow carbonation. Decent clean drinking boost.

750ml bottle from Sainsbury's Darlington. 2016 vintage. Golden colour, no lasting head and aroma of apple, fruity. Taste is sweet sugary, fruity apple with light woody oak notes. Light to medium bodied, low carbonation, semi-dry slightly tannic finish. Quite OK.

Bottle at chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013 - London. Vintage 2010. Pours clear, very pale yellow with note head, really. Sweet but not cloying, with light tang and moderate ripe apple character. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with mellow dryness and lingering tangy quench. Good stuff.

750ml bottle. Pours orange gold with low carbonation. Aroma is slightly astringent apple juice. Taste is quite astringent to start. Lots of apple juice. Not bad for a supermarket cider.

Rather a large bottle from Sainsburys. Very pale green gold colour with thin collar of white bubbles. Some sweetish apple juice on the aroma. Faint promise of woody tannin. I know it says medium dry, but upfront and in the mouth it has notes of sweetness, it is only on the lasting finish that you then get the dryness, some acidity, some tannin. And the finish does last a bit too. It is more my kind of cider. It has some apple juice in the flavour, but some restrained wood and pulp and bark. It’s the right level of appleyness and then this dry finish does kick in and does dry out the gums in a most pleasing way. For a supermarket Cider, at less than 2 quid a bottle, I thought pretty decent.

750ml bottle. Pale straw in colour with a faint greenish tinge; no head but some light carbonation; crisp aroma; sweet eating apples seem to dominate the taste, the texture is quite thick and oily; and the finish rather cloying.
