AleSmith is proud to release this long-awaited and intensely aromatic Russian Imperial Stout with Vietnamese coffee. We traditionally brew Vietnamese coffee, known as cà phê sữa đá, with a phin-style filter that gently percolates water through ground coffee. The result is a chocolaty and bold tasting coffee that perfectly complements the notes of oak, vanilla, and spice in this massive rye whiskey barrel-aged stout.

Can. Lots of delicious coffee going on here, some booze and alcohol, hints of dark chocolate. Cocoa. Quite dry, tannins. Overall, nice indeed, but a bit too dry, on the cocoa side. 747415 260813

4 oz draft. Decent. Aroma is rye whiskey, coffee, chocolate.
Flavor is the same. Decent mouthfeel. Mild warming after the sip. Better than in a can. But in all seriousness, something changed with the base stout. Thinner texture. Just not what it used to be.

Top 50 for the style. Breaking this out to celebrate Flyers 3-2 game one playoff win against the hated Penguins! 16 ounce can from Tavour. Jet black pour. Small tan head dissipates to a creamy cap. Aromas of dark roasted malt, coffee, oak and whiskey. Initial sip brings joyous notes of dark coffee, rye malt and dark chocolate. Quickly followed by notes of oak, whiskey, vanilla and chocolate ganache. Remarkably smooth and complex for such a big brew. The warmer this gets, the better it tastes. Well done!

Cremiger, moderat alkoholischer Beginn. Dunkles Malz, angenehme Herbe, Kaffee, wenig Holz und Vanille. Trocken, leicht herb, konstant würzig, langer Nachhall, Schokolade. Vollmundig, Kaffee, langer Nachhall. Könnte etwas weniger Alkohol haben, rund. 10/9/11/11/9/11

Pint can pours with a nice dark chocolate colored body that supports a thin ring of dark tan foam. The aroma offers up chocolate malts, coffee and then some thin rye to oak notes. The taste delivers such great balance and depth. Alesmith is the standard to compare to regarding barrel aging beer to attain the right barrel to beer flavor balance. Wow. I get smooth slick dark chocolate followed quickly by dark roasted coffee that's tempered and blended into the maltiness. To midway the barrel character begins to create a pleasing boozy rye twang cutting perfectly against the sweeter richer base beer notes. Wonderful. Typical Alesmith.

Dark brown, no head. Lots of coffee, rich, slightly nutty. Excellent, has some rye character. Nice rye barrel signature.

Tall US can @ Benzai's Anti-Carnival Valentine's Day Tasting, Feb 26. Pours pitch black with a deep tan head. Prominent coffee nose. Big coffee presence to taste alongside deep chocolate layers, confident roast.. great complexity.. proper.

16 oz can. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, boozy, wet stone, coconut, woody, soy sauce, oxidation, coffee, cooked broccoli, molasses. Pours nearly black with a half finger tan head with decent retention. Taste is bittersweet with flavors like the aroma. Tastes past its prime.

Can shared at Anti-Carnavalstasting 2026. Opaque black color, average sized brown colored head. Aroma is malts, chocolate, nutty, vanilla, coffee. Flavor is similar, with some booze. So I guess whiskey. Awesome. Good.

Can.
A- Black color, black liquid, brown head.
A- Espresso, mocha, slightly sweet, faint vanilla, subtle whisky.
F- Mocha, dark chocolate fudge, light espresso bitterness, faint rye spice, faint sweetness.
T- Full body, slightly thick texture, average carbonation, complex finish.
O- Wow, this was outstanding. Honestly, nothing stands out and that's okay. It's well blended. Sure, I want loads of coffee notes or rye whisky notes, but the way this all worked together made for a beer that didn't remind you of the adjuncts as you drank it. Harmoniously well balanced. Nice.
