Malty and hoppy, we at Belhaven love the classic Scottish Ale and we’ve been brewing it longer than any of the other beers we produce. Delivering a sweet, smooth and creamy finish, Scottish Ale has a stunning ruby colour in the glass. Magic.

19 August 2018. Bottle from... beats me! Airbnb bedroom tasting, Salzburg. Cheers to Anke!
Pours clear amber with a small, unstable, foamy, off-white head. Aroma of yeast, cookie dough, cinnamon, 'brésilienne', peanut, herbs, caramel, red apple, cake. It tastes medium malty sweet, cake- & cookie-like, and light spicy bitter, hint of spiced cookie, raw cinnamon; rough dry & nutty edges; bit tea-like. Dry, herbal hoppy finish, spicy, lingering caramel & cookie. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Lacking some smoky elements, I'd even say it tends towards an Amber Ale but not as hoppy.

330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.2%. Beautiful clear copper colour, moderate head, slightly off-white. Pleasant malty aroma, notes of caramel, fresh bread and pastry, hints of dark berries. Malty flavour too, some caramel but not too sweet, very moderate earthy hops. A true Scottish Ale. Will buy again.

Bottle. Color: Clear copper, very thin beige head. Taste: Very malty and very smooth, nicely combined with medium hopbitter and caramel notes. Very lightly hints of peat and smoke. Medium to above medium body, light carbonation. Nice.

(Bottle) Nice looking beer - clear ruddy brown with big dense white head. Nice aroma - toasty malt, nutty, caramel. Medium bodied, well carbonated, even frothy. Taste is fine, but rather unexciting - some nice malt, toasty and nutty with some gentle sweetness. Pleasant but not special.
