500ml bottle from Beer Hawk - A nice deep brown body, lasting white head. Nose is smoky coffee and liquorice with a similar tasting after. The finish is a little dry, with the coffee hanging on. Pleasant surprise and quite a nice one.

11th May 2012 saw me on a mini pub crawl of Wellington: my local Wetherspoons had this on hand pull, so I had a pint. Dark ruby red body with a thin head of off-white, which stayed the distance. Malty nose giving off esters of black coffee and hints of dark berries. The taste was almost all maltiness, very little hop bitterness or presence felt. I thought the body weak and watery to be honest.

Cask at the Old Gaolhouse (JDW), Winchester. Copper with a cheery red glow and a thin beige head; fruity aroma; a rather thin grainy body, with a light, fruity flavour; dry, fruity finish, with a hint of smoke and some residual biscuit. A pleasant, easy drink.

[Cask from the Falcon (JDW), High Wycombe] Deep ruby, negligible cream head. A little plummy fruit, some wood, some mild roast. Pleasant enough, easy drinking mild, but fairly forgettable.

Lightly sweet on the finish with toasty cocoa, very faint fruits and dark, toasty bread. Nice mild.

Half, cask at Counting House. A deep dark brown coloured ale with a beige, circular edge to the rim of the glass. Plain dark malty nose. Roasted mid-sweet, dark malts in flavour, hints of dark fruits, too. Ashy dry mouthfeel. Malt-bitter end. Ok (Glasgow, 12.04.2012).

Clear brown beer. Crisp palate. Good flavour for it’s modest abv. Reasonably well balanced with malt just dominating the little bit of fruity hop.

Bottled. A red-amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and berries. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel, leading to a bitter finish. Boring.
