cloudy brown and amber color. Light apple notes with just a touch of hops. Light body, moderate amount of apple character but really focused on just being refreshing. Slightly tart. Some cinnamon notes, got better as it warmed.

Can under the name Kuro Kura which is listed at 7% ABV bought at Ito Yokado. Drank straight from the can. Nice roasted malt aroma with a hint of coffee on the nose. Slightly creamy mouthfeel initially then the body starts to thin out. Tastes of roasted cacao, toasted kitkat and coffee. The 7% ABV is noticeable and boozy on the finish. Really not bad at all for a can that is starting to pop up a lot more places this year. --- Beer merged from original tick of Iwate Kura Stout on 11 May 2015 at 00:22 - Score: 6

Bottle from the little standing bar/bottle shop in the basement of Tokyo station. Hazy gold with a medium-sized off-white head. Slight sansho aroma with a hint of herbal aroma (oregano)? Medium body with a good light and crisp refreshing feel on the palate. Spice comes through really nicely and melds with the peppery dry finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Iwate Kura Japanese Herb Ale Sansho on 11 May 2015 at 00:21 - Score: 6

Real ale version on tap at CBM Koenji. Clear ruby red color with zero head. Nice floral hop, rooibos, rhubarb and tea aromas on the nose. Medium body with creamy mouthfeel. Flat carbonation. As it warms up more of fruitiness comes out. Really smooth and rich finish with a tea-like dryness present. Solid Irish ale. --- Beer merged from original tick of Iwate Kura Red Ale on 11 May 2015 at 00:21 - Score: 7

Can from Taniguchi. Iwate Kura Kin Kura pours a clear fizzy golf with a fruity biscuit nose. Clean crisp fruity biscuity lager. A touch too floral and sweet from me but decent enough. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft summer 2014 at Sapporo Craft Beer Forrest. Deep mahogany brown with a nice tan head. Roasted coffee and malt aroma present with a hint of arugula. Nice malt with an oily, rich mouthfeel. Nice carbonation. As it comes to room temperature ocean salt and slight citrus pith make their way out. Really solid beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Oyster Stout on 11 May 2015 at 00:20 - Score: 7

Tap at BBS 2015. Orange-amber color with lace. Peachy, yeasty, honey in the nose and mouth. Finishes bitter and almost dry. Very estery and oily. Nice enough.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Iwate Kura’s Chocolate Stout 5% pours a thick fudge brown that becomes pitch black in the glass with a filmy beige head. Medium bodied with a silky mouthfeel. It has a strong savory chocolate syrup aroma with soy & hints of smoke. Wow, the taste is very roasty, oats & dark chocolate. Quite a solid chocolate stout & one of the better ones I’ve had this year.

Fujiyama Lambic from Iwate Kura 5% sample on tap at Kamikaze. It pours a very pale gold with a fluffy white head. The nose is fruity yeasty plum like, apparently made from yeast harvested off persimmons or something in collaboration with someone from Outsider brewing. Very light soft body, thin almost watery but with big fruit plum flavor, almost fruit juice like. Tasty stuff but lacking complexity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
