Exquisite aroma, but flavour didn't live up. Dry and bitter to be sure, but kind of one-dimensional for a brewery that delivers such wonderful subtlety in its other beers.

Firm, hugely flavourful. At a yak-stunning 9.5% abv, this is one seriously huge tripel. Great complexity and some wonderfully evocative flavours - like hot apple crisp with whipped cream melting all over it.

Crisp, wheaty flavours and a wonderfully citric fruitiness. The perfect breakfast beer.

Fantastic pilsner. Hop-heavy with good malt background and a lot of style.

For all you strong stout lovers out there, go get this. Its one of the best, smoothest, and most drinkable imperial stouts I've ever had. Rich malty sweetness. Firm warming mouthfeel. Luscious.

When most American breweries aggressively hop their barleywines, Victory has stepped in with a nice malty traditional British style barleywine. Intensely rich, sweet, and alcoholic, yet immensely drinkable, this is a great barleywine that should age especially well. Smells almost of sherry or madeira.

In color, nearly identical to Celis White - and indeed its also a Belgian Wit. In fact, this beer makes a nice comparison to Celis White because it many respects its the same beer but without the orange peel and coriander spice additions. Even without those adjuncts, this beer retains a certain lemony clove spiciness and is very clean and surprisingly dry. Has a nice hop presence in the aftertaste.

Its a classic. Firm hop flavors make up this IPA - its no wimp. It has that nice floral aroma that many of the good hoppy beers have, but also that hint of a metallic bitterness.

I figured a re-rate was deserved here. I rated this a 2.4 back on May 2, 2000. I concerned by that. I do remember drinking this, and I remember that I didn't like it, and even remember Lew Bryson was incredulous at my reaction. And its weird, because I've always loved marzens, and dark german lagers in general and Victory was pretty good at making german lagers of all sorts. Anyway, today I noticed the date of that rating. May 2 2000. So probably I drank an old bottle, at least a few months past its prime. So fast forward 19 years and I sample one from Florida, and it's pretty good. I mean, I still don't think it's a great American take on marzen, and it's not in the Sierra Nevada collab ballpark, but its a perfectly good beer. On to the review. Amber color, malt, some caramel flavors. Light bitterness, just enough to keep it balanced. Somewhat earthy. Here's the original review for posterity A very mediocre beer and my least favorite of the 3 Victory beers I've tried so far. Starts by looking great in the glass - a great ruby red color. But at first whiff, it loses its appeal. Its aroma and flavor are primarily malty, but without character. A slight bitterness appears at the back of the tongue when you swallow it, but again, this bitterness is without character, and aside from this bitterness, the hop presence is just about nil.
