About
Williams Bros Brewing Company is a Scottish family-owned microbrewery, founded and operated by brothers Bruce and Scot Williams.

The Williams Bros. Brewing Co. started life in the humble ‘Glenbrew’ homebrew shop in Glasgow. The first beer brewed was the ‘Fraoch’ Heather Ale at a small 5-barrel brewery in Taynuilt, After the 2nd year of brewing in the Taynuilt brewery and with demand far out stripping supply the brothers decided to expand and also to diversify the range with five Historic Ales. These ales were produced at the new purpose built brewery and premises in Craigmill, Strathaven from 1998-2004.

In 2004 the brothers took over the ‘Forth Brewery’ at Kellibank, Alloa where Maclay’s had been contract brewing and packaging their beers since the sale of their old Alloa brewery. It was at this stage in proceedings that Heather Ale Ltd became Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

Very dark garnet-brown, with a full huge head. Strong candyish aroma. Somewhat mild smoky and chocolatey flavors. Clean earthy finish with a hint of roastiness. I don't detect what the seaweed adds to this beer.

Very much despite it's name pale yellow, and slightly hazy. Some hay aroma. Clean and sweet, light bodied with low bitterness. Unremarkable not not at all unpleasant.

Sampled cask conditioned at the Stein Inn, Waternish, Isle of Skye. Pale golden. Herbal nose (I think of heather, but that's probably only imagining). Light bodied, soft and dryish. Notes of vanilla. herbal, sweetish, and only lightly bitter finish.

I was really nervous about trying this one. I don't really know what seaweed tastes like, but it doesn't appear to be a main ingredient in this brew. Dark amber color with a thick beige head. Lightly malty/roasted aroma. Malt very present in the flavor as well, with a little chocolate here and there. As far as novelty beers go this one is pretty solid, but on the grand scale of things it isn't really breaking any new ground.

MMMM BOGMYRTLE!! this was a unique beer. very experimental and it actually tastes good. Not something id drink every day. It had a very thick meaty taste to it, with lots of spices. Good brownish, yellow tint to it, and a good amount of carbonation. It took a few sips to get used to, but i finished it easily. not a bad beer.
