From my dear brother: Pours a dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate and nuts. Taste is a bit sweet. Low bitterness in general. Rather smooth. Generally pretty simple. Not a bad beer though.

Can. Clear deep amber color, medium white head. Aroma of light toast and grapefruit. Taste is fruity citrus on a caramel background. Easy drinking.

Deep brown with chestnut accents and a light tan head. Chocolate, light roasted malts, a bit of caramel, espresso, some background fruitiness. Relatively thin body. Flavor is heavier on the roasted malt and chocolate with light sweet fruit. A solid brown ale but would be improved by a fuller body. Good beer, though.

Medium dark brown with a light beige head. Mostly an aroma of roasted malt but has a bit of sweet caramel, too. Flavor is roasted, earth, light cocoa. Finish is lightly sweet and bitter. A pretty standard stout, mostly. Good.

Can 16fl.oz. [ As Great River Owney Irish Style Red Ale ].Clear medium red amber color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dusty malt, light tobacco, tart fruit - berry notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, dusty malt, caramel. Body is medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20140517]

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a hazy brown color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light speckled lacing here and there in a messy sort of way.
The smell had some light crisp roasty coffee to some light sweet chocolate.
The taste was mainly sweet and tried to hold a respectable roastiness but somehow through this flavoring it seemed like it just wasn’t balanced enough.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued and gave off a clear crisp sweetness rolling over my tongue.
Overall, kinda weird as a stout - I’m not used to having a stout of this nature. Would I have it again? Maybe...
