16oz can. Unfiltered dulled orange-tan. Massive foamy off-white head. Has a touch more hops than your typical US brewpub example, some nice piny, grapefruit resin. Medium to full bodied, a little hefty for the lowish ABV. A little antiquated in terms of body and flavor, this can’t hang with the citra beers of new. Pretty mundane, average at best, certainly not worth a premium price. Tolerable,kind of has that grassy English IPA feel. Better straight from the can.

Can courtesy of radagast83, thank you! Clear dark maroon color, tan head. Aroma of lightly spiced brown bread with raisins. Taste is smooth coffee, light body.

Can. Hazy deep amber brown color, huge off white head. Aroma of toasted caramel and light spice. Taste is malty at first, sweet, with a tad of finishing bitterness.

16oz can. Poured a golden amber color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was light malts, touch of herbal and grapefruits with the hops. Flavor was grapefruit, sweet malts, bready, floral character here with a touch of bitterness. Pretty solid pale ale.

Can brought back from a trip to the Quad Cities. Poured a clear, medium dark brown color with a small, off-white head that quickly dissipated to a small wispy head. Aroma was lightly roasted malt notes. Flavor was notes of malts, some light spice notes. Pretty drinkable, but I think I’ll pass on the lime!

Unintentional or intentional, this one is quite sour and infected. Kind of has that leathery fruit sour tinged touch that so many whales have these days. Not really that good, so far out there that is hard to imagine what they might have intended. Not a fun beer to drink alone...but OK if you think of it as an Oud Bruin. An oddity and a presumed fluke. Batch Two...can generously sent directly from the brewery. Opaque brown-black. Not much of a head...oily residue. Unfortunately still suffers from some sour, infected tones. Tolerable enough, caramel and brown malt with a slight sour tang. Uniquely balanced I suppose, but still a sub par product...don’t worry about barrels until you can brew an uninfected beer.

12oz bottle. On the darker, chocolate side of the equation. Murky brown-red body. Thin, steady off-white head. Somewhat soapy, sandy, dryish mouthfeel among the smooth, sweet malt tones. Achieves a nice balance....but isn’t to style. A pretty decent beer, nice to have a good session darkish beer. Chocolate-Vienna.

Purchased at Breeze Thru in Wauwatosa, WI; enjoyed at home on Father’s Day prior to heading out for the family day. This stuff is pretty good! Appearance is a creamy pitch black with a rich, dark tan head, looks rather decadent. Aroma of light coffee bitterness, dark chocolate, very subtle vanilla, nice smell. Taste has a great roasted chocolate flavor and the bitterness from the coffee comes towards the end. Not too much lactose / creaminess in this one and it is a bit bitter, but I really like it. Great stuff, happy to have had this as my first Iowa beer!
