Bottled. Dark brown. Cinnamon nutmeg and pumpkin. Malty brown ale with pumpkins. Some astringency which I didn’t dig. OK.

Notes from July 2009 Bottles courtesy of Chris, aka The Big Sneeze. :) Poured into this year's Ommegang anniversary glass. Big head. Tan, marshmallow-y, & slow to recede. It really lingers. Body is a dark ruby brown. Smell is light on caramel & creamer. Touch of chocolate. A full showing of earthy & mildly rindy hops follow right behind. Taste is an earthy brown with light citrus & floral notes. Toasty & minerally. The hops pepper more then add straight bitters to the beer. Big earthy soil character, with just enough caramel. Barely a rindy linger. Carbonation is small & sturdy. Feel is dirty, but smooth alcohol & a decent balance make it work. :)

Sit Ubu, sit. A 12 oz can obtained from my connection to the nice people at Halftime. My tastings started with a chilled mug this evening, no motivation to change. It appears as a cola-colored liquid finished by a parchment tan head of quite fine foam. I smell earth and wood and something roasty, what is going on here? I lift for a drink, plums, grain, cereal, again some woodiness, malt and a bit of raisin sweetness. Okay but certainly one and done.

Bottle thanks to Jack! Pours a clear orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has citrus rind and pine with earthy grain and bread backing. Flavor is similar with pine and slightly earthy citrus rind with notes of bread and earthy grain backing.
