Bottle at a restaurant in Sedona. Pours a clear copper with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Caramel, toffee and light nutty notes as it warms. Palate is one-dimensional with caramel malt. Not overly sweet, just not a lot going on. Balanced and bland finish.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Scottsdale, AZ. Pours a clear amber color with a giant khaki head and annoyingly great retention. Very good lacing. Faint caramel aroma. Tastes more like an amber lager / Vienna lager versus an amber ale. Again, a very faint caramel flavor. Light body. Foamy mouthfeel. Not bitter. No bad flavors, just very subdued. Easy drinking.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Scottsdale, AZ. Pours a clear dark mahogany color with a light beige head and good retention. Not much lacing. Very subdued nut aroma. The flavor is also subtle, with dark malt, nuts, and a hint of molasses in the finish. The body is a little thin for a brown ale. Light carbonation. A clean and smooth, mellow, no-frills brown ale.

12 oz bottle at the Javelina Cantina in Sedona, Arizona. The pour is a cloudy golden copper with a small white head with lace. The aroma is wheat grain, clove and a bit of lemon. The taste has the wheat grain upfront with clove yeast, mineral and lemon citrus. Hits all the Hefe notes nicely. The palate is medium bodied, unfiltered mouthfeel and a cleanish finish.

Shaker pint draft at Canyon Breeze restaurant in Sedona, Arizona. The pour is clear golden yellow with a foamy 1 inch white head that leaves nice lace. The aroma is faint floral, and a hint of cereal malt. The taste is very cold initially, faint grass, floral and cereal malt towards the back. As it warms, beer is a bit roughly bitter. The palate is medium to light bodied with active carbonation and a dry, roughly bitter mineral finish.
