Bottle. Cloudy golden orange color, thin white head that settles quickly. Aroma of orange peel, light spice, grapefruit. Taste is whiskey, orange juice. Interesting.

Thanks to Armin for this one - fizzy, lightly hazy rust color - seems to have picked up some color from the barrel - well, the aroma sure took a lot from the barrel - all I can smell is bourbon, vanilla, coconut, toasted oak - no tripel character at all - taste is much the same - there is some candi sugar and floral character, but the bourbon adds a sweet booziness and covers up the yeast character - very hot finish - messy.

Bottle courtesy of Armin. Pretty cloudy, darkish orange appearance with a white head. Oaky, blonde belgian malty, spicy nose. Definitely quite oaky, vanilla, blonde-caramel malty, spicy Belgian ale flavor with a fairly boozy finish. Not much like a tripel.

A blonde ale with a thick lacing off white head. In aroma, light biscuitty malt and faint hops. In mouth, a bland pale ale with biscuitty malt, faint hops, mineral notes. On tap at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.

A turbid ale with a thicj frothy off white head. In aroma, a musty herbal hops with doughy notes and light tropical fruits. In mouth, a sweet doughy malt with tropical fruits, papaya, floral hops, orange pulp. Cask at Twin City Brewfest, August 13 2011.

Bottle: Very dark brown pour with a finger of creamy brown head. Typical nose of a barrel aged impy, but a little smoke (and peat?) blend with the wood and bourbon. Coffee becomes more prevalent in the taste, some earthy bittersweet cocoa, chocolate malts, and more bourbon barrel notes.

Bottle marked as 04-10 thanks to billschmeinke. Pours with a mostly clear golden hue with a head that fades to a ring quickly but leaves good lace. Aromas are huge, spicy, cheap bourbon and oak. Earthy, vanilla, lightly vegital, peppery, minimal malt. Soil and sandalwood. Bourbon dominates. Flavors again are dominated by bourbon. Woody, huge whiskey, candi sugar, pepper, phenol, dry and alcohol forward. Really all bourbon. Seems Maker’s Mark esque if I had to guess. Lightly bready. Corn bread. Lively bubbles. Okay. Completely bourbon dominated, but I am okay with that.

12 ounce bottle from Brawley’s in Charlotte. Pours a very dark brown color with a large frothy brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of oatmeal, chocolate, nutty notes and a faint finish of tart cherries and band aids. Uh oh. The taste is bitter roasted malts, nutty notes, chocolate and coffee. Thankfully no infection notes here. Medium bodied. Pretty good overall.

12 ounce bottle from Total Wine Charlotte, NC. opened 4/22/11. Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow color with lots of carbonation. Medium sized fizzy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of big citrus notes with pale wheat. The taste is citrus, mango, wheat, a crackery note. Medium bodied.
