Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours light copper/amber with a slight, transient tan head. Nice aroma of amber malt and perhaps pepper (not Chili). Med body. Malty but dry. There's a hint of smoke up front. Some pepper, some melon, and definitely some grass/spice. Probably not smoke, but it seems rather like it. Smooth and tasty lager.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 8B adapted: US origin). Can 45 cl - batch undeclared (BB: undeclared - Canned on 03/11/25). AROMA: medium-high roasted malt aroma with a coffee character. slight bread crust. APPEARANCE: very dark brown to black color with very dark ruby highlights. clear. medium light brown head, creamy, with good retention. TASTE: initial medium-high roasted malt flavor (coffee, slight dak caramel) with hints of sweetness, quickly overtaken by medium-high to high bitterness from roasted malts and hops. finishes dry and roasted, with slight burnt notes. TEXTURE: medium-low body with medium carbonation. slight astringency. OVERALL: a schwarz-like beer on steroids. good for roasted malt fans.

This was quite nice. Big over the top hops. Oily, resinous, very dry and bitter. No malt to be found, just hops, and more hops. Nice stuff.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated November 27, 2024.
Aroma is fairly hop forward with notes of lemon, grapefruit, pith, and woody, piney, herbal notes. Light bready grain notes and hints of alcohol.
Pours a slightly hazy, yellow gold with a large, thick, pillowy white head that recedes to a small head that lingers in clumps. Fairly high lacing and faint legs.
Flavor has a light sweetness with medium light bready grain notes. Medium bitterness and faint alcohol notes. Moderately strong herbal, woody, piney hop notes with hints of grapefruit and citrus pith.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied and a bit crisp with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a solid hoppy lager. I wish it were fresher so the dry hop notes could come though a bit better, but they have held up surprisingly well. Not as crisp as I was expecting, but still pretty crushable.

Got from Good Times Oakland.
Canned December 30th so..super fresh.
Pours a pale clear gold with a substantial head of foam, good retention, good lacing.
The smell is noble hops, grassy, spicy, bits of grain here and there, wonderful aromas.
The taste lives up to the smell. Noble hop bitterness, including grass in all of its glory, on the spicy side, grain is mostly noticeable when I swish the beer in my mouth.
Mouthfeel is no slouch either. Somewhat sticky on the tongue which is a positive when the beer is this good.
