9th Nov 2011: Hand pulled pint in a local pub, a standard UK sleeve being the receptacle. Not as light in colour as it’s bottled version, or so it seemed to me anyway: the same off-white head on top, but lasting longer than my bottle review. A mixed bag of smells; malts and hops combining to produce a pleasing and beery aroma. The flavours were also a good blend of sweetish malts and spicy hops (Goldings and Fuggles I believe). Re-created to taste like a 19th century IPA, wouldn’t know if they’ve got it right or not, but it certainly tastes good! A rural, rustic feel to it with a citrus bittering towards the end of each mouthful. Good character and body, suits the 5.0% ABV it carries: not sure a 19th century IPA would have been this clear to look at, but I liked it in both bottle form and in cask (on more than one occasion).

Cask, handpump at The Plough, Worcester, 17.01.12 in the company of me deal ol’ ma. Black appearance with a beige head of creamy consistency. Roasty with some liquorice, good bitterness and some lovely dark, bitter cocoa, lovely chocolatey flavours, bloody good stout. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Cask @GBBF 2011. Pours a clear yellow golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity hoppy floral citrus aroma. Fruity malty hoppy bitter citrus flavor. has a fruity malty floral hoppy finish.

Cask @ Volunteer Arms, GBBF 2011. Pours a golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy caramel aroma. Fruity malty caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel finish with hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

Cask at GBBF 2011, Day 2. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a light film for a head. Wet hay and cereal aroma. Light sweet flavor, tangy grains. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Some wood, hard hops, grain and grass to finish. Not too bad.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2011, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear medium orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, fruity, light hoppy, citrus notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110803]

On cask, gravity at Shrewsbury Folk Festival weekend of 26,27,28,29th August 2011 Pours amber quite a sweet nose, not that exciting if truth be told, malty with some toffee, light bitterness, just ok really. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 2.9

500ml bottle. Pours light gold with a large head. Aroma is dusty lemon hop. Faint. Taste is sweet to start. Medium bitter, sweet straw finish.
