Description
Our 17th Century brewery is located right in the heart of beautiful Shropshire. Nestled in the small market town of Bishop's Castle, we’re proud to brew our legendary Three Tuns ales from a charming Victorian brewery tower, just a stone’s throw away from English/Welsh border and unspoilt countryside.

It’s 1642 and a half-timbered building is built in Salop Street Bishop’s Castle to brew real ale for the coaching inn next door, the Three Tuns Inn and our real ales come to life for the first time.

The current classic tower brewery with a 10BBL plant was built in 1888. The beers were sold under the name Three Tuns. Brewing ceased in September 2001 due to problems with beer quality due to some equipment needing replacing with brewing being carried out by Hobson's.

in January 2003, our brewery is bought by John Roberts’ Brewing Co.Ltd. - the name of which celebrates our historic association, over about a century, with the Roberts family. Our brewery is fully refurbished, ensuring its brewing future for many years to come.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a chrome yellow with a small foamy white head and good lacing. Grass and straw in the aroma with hints of malts as well. In the mouth the initial impression of fruitiness and a creamy texture. Later you become aware of the malt led base and discern stewed apples, peaches and apricots together with some floral hops. Finish is mainly malts. Not a bad beer by any means.

Clear golden pour with a nice frothy white head, and a light fruit malt aroma. The taste is malt driven, with some fruity sweetness and a yeast-like character that is often apparent in their beers. Has a fresh, almost zesty mouthfeel and slightly dry bitter finish

Handpull cask at the Bear & Wolf, Kidderminster. Very dark brown, slightly translucent with a beige/khaki head. Light aroma, some dark chocolate and some black malt. Taste is sweet with an earthy bitterness and robust, almost gravy-like savoury note with follows through to the finish. Chocolate syrup, Marmite in the aftertaste. Medium oily body, soft carbonation. A bit odd but certainly not bad.

13th July 2019, cask half-pint on the 23rd Annual Bishop's Castle Real Ale and Cider Trail. Pretty sure this is a one off, a regular beer tweaked for the festival (or just renamed for 'tickers'). I did see this last year unlike the other four I've just added!
