Dark copper pour, big foamy, sticky head. Pine hop aroma, quite a bit of alcohol, and some big chewy, caramel malts. This is another big american double ipa that has entered barley wine territory. The huge amount of bready, boozy, sweet, caramel malts really mellow the soapy pine hops. A nice sipper, but a barley wine in my books.

Robust, sweet, roasty, and a touch lactic. Subtle, piney hops, some wet grass also. Medium bitter finish with a great roasty, coffee aftertaste.

Dark brown pour, small off white head. Great bready, caramel sweet, boozy malts. Subtle pine, pungent hops. This is a quite nice english style barley wine. Finish is a medium bitter, that lingers.

pours a dull orange with nex tto no head. Aroma of cheap grain, and touches of cinnamon, and cadamon, and cloves. Flavor is WHOA..............very strong cloves....with lingering cinnamon in the finish. The aftertaste leaves some more cloves, and cinnamon. really not much more to this beer pretty one dimensional. not sure i can finish this.

[as Shipyard American IPA (UK, Marston's), ABV 5.0%] Bottiglia.

This IPA needs more hops. It's a good Pale ale, but it's thin bodied to me. i'd like to have more maltiness, better body & color, and some hops in the aroma that stand out. Just because it doesn't use American hops doesn't mean it has to be wimpy. I've had Fuggles hopped IPA's that can take on the West Coast's best, but this isn't one of them.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) It’s the head that first springs to mind: it’s extreme. Not that it explodes out of the bottle when the cap is twisted, but when poured the head rises so high, that you have to wait a while to find the beer. Light brownish and pretty coarse in texture - the head, that is. Amber coloured and hazy with loads om impurities in the brew. Very hoppy from the Fuggles also adding loads of aroma. No a very refined IPA though. 3.1

(Bottle 35,5 cl) A stout reminiscent of fluid tar when poured: thick and extremely dense. A carbonation is so heavy that it’s almost impossibly to pour without spilling. Beautiful brownish head. Very, very spicy and heavy on the smoked malts. Peat, tar all the same associations as you get when drinking the more smod Scottish single malts. Not heavy in body though, neither that bitter. A beer with great personality. 3.6

Pleasant sweet bitter taste with very fine hints of caramel. Old paper ratings before Ratebeer, so why not rate them in hindsight.
