The Duke William, 25 Coventry Street, Stourbridge, DY28 1EP, England
Description
Reported by CAMRA in March 2025 that beers are now being brewed at Birmingham Brewing Co.

Please check when adding new beers but it would seem to appear best practice to add them as brewed there going forwards.

Before there was the brewery, there were pubs. The Plough and Harrow was the first, 2006. Then the Duke William 2009. These two beautiful and popular pubs are a short distance apart and are the reason that Craddock’s Brewery is rooted in Stourbridge.

The brewery was installed at the Duke William in March 2011. The next two years the focus of the company was on perfecting the beers and remaining traditional and true to the local heritage of small, family-run pub and brewery companies. This was when Dottie the Dray horse would work every Sunday delivering the beer to the Plough and Harrow.

Quick half at the Good Intent before heading home on the train and my notes read: Damp tea towels, grains, yeasty sour face slap, old cardigans, some actual fruit note, medium bodied, drying. Its crap.

Cask at the Good Intent, Birmingham. Clear gold, small white head. Aroma of pineapple, citrus, background malts. Zesty, malty, light tanginess, good bitterness running through. Nothing amazing but it's decent.

Keg from Good Intent, Birmingham. Pours black lovely looking off white head. Looks like a Guinness. More aroma than the old Irish classic. Nice roast and coffee notes without being overly rich. Taste of roasted malts and coffee bitterness, some blackcurrant, semi sweetness to give some balance. Nice smooth body with low carbonation. Just a bit more hoppy fruitiness or spice would turn this into a great stout, but it's very good.

Hand-pulled half-pint in the Good Intent on 8th November 2024. Golden body, white topping. Light citrus nose and taste, some malt action but it's all a bit too subtle and weak, surprised it held 5.4% ABV to be honest.

Cask at The Good Intent, Brum. Aroma grainy, slightly sour. Clear light brown. Thick foamy white head. Grainy and malty before developing a sugary streak. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Pleasant enough twiggy bitter.
