Dark brown beer with a red hue, off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, brown sugar, caramel. Flavour is bitter roasted malts, brown sugar and a nice bitter finish. Some chocolate. 2006 version was more fullbodied and more tasteful than the 2007 version. Overall a good bock.

On tap at De Geuzen. Amber colour, white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and roasted malts. Flavour is very sweet, caramel, roasted malts and a light bitter finish. Thick mouthfeel. Like Einbecker Ur-bock. Too sweet for me.

Clear golden. Hoppy and grassy aroma, taste is dry and bittersweet, a bit grainy. This pilsener is somehow less easy to drink than other Dutch lagers.

On tap @ Arendsnest. The brewer changed the name to UP again. They also changed the recipe a bit. Nice golden colour, fluffy white head. Aroma of grass, hops and soft malts. Taste is hops, grass, some citrus and malts. Starts a bit sweet, finishes dry and bitter. Soft palate. Imo the best Dutch pilsener.

On tap. Golden amber coloured beer, white head. Nose of sweetness, malts and some hops. Taste is overly sweet, malty. Too much sweetness, making this a tough one to swallow and not a very refreshing spring beer.

Orange-brown colour with thin lacy head. Aroma has a clean sweetness with some fruity notes amongst the malt. Flavour is a real blend of malt and fruit. The sweetness works as it’s presence is in the fruitiness giving it an almost juicy charachteristic.

Bottle: Copper coloured, huge fluffy off-white tanned head; dark-malty, light alcoholic nose with a fruity touch; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; dark-malty, bitter and light alcoholic finish. Not the best Doppelbock, but all in all quite well drinkable.........

Bottle, 5%. Clear golden colour, small white head. Grainy aroma. The flavour is grainy with rough hop notes, but fairly clean. OK macro pils.
