Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of bluebetty. Pours a very dark brown - close to black - with a warm tint of red and a creamy light brown head. The nose is roasty with a smoaky whiff. Medium body, sweet roast and licorice with a touch of tar and smoke. Ends with hardly any bitterness. Pleasant. 150311

From a 330ml bottle on 10/7/2010. My 100th beer rated on here! This is a nice full on stout. Has a massive aroma of molasses and coffee, with some chocolate and dark berries. Flavour wise, the roasted malt is really pronounced, with some dried fruit, chocolate and coffee. Has a nice long bitter finish to balance the sweet elements. Good stuff!

Pours burnished gold with a very quickly fading head.Nose shows Euro grassy hops but with some noticeable darker malts (caramelised) to set it apart. Little else, quite clean, some floral notes.Malt is more noticeable as a flavour: quite sweet, especially later on when the grassy hops and carbonation fade.Too highly carbonated.Lacks enough dark malt to be a bock, too sweet to be a pilsner... Somewhere in between.

Bottle. Hazy amber brown, no head. Sweet aroima with a hint of honey perhaps. Medium body, light carbonation. Sweet and tangy foretaste with a reasonable bitter finish. Overall a decent beer but not exceptional. I had expected more so was disappointed - however it is very drinkable.

Pours pale gold, almost yellow with a small head.Nice spicy and floral hops present themselves in the aroma, though light on. Some bready malt in the background.Flavours are malt dominated with sweet biscuit notes definitely present. Hops are not forgotten with more floral and spicy notes.Good moderately-high carbonation and nice body.

330ml bottle poured into a 500ml Weizen. Even poured slowly the head is still way out of the oversized glass. Gungy yellow with lots of bubbles. Smells wheaty and spicy. Taste has a little sweetness and lots of tartness and spice (cloves, coriander, vanilla). Not too much banana character, lots of bread and spice. Tangy finish. This is the most like the hefeweizen I’ve had on tap in Germany of any bottled version I’ve tried, including German brews.

Bottle 33cl. @ Chris O’s Night of the Gaylords.Clear dark red brown color with a average, creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate hoppy, moderate yeasty. Flavor is light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20091229]

Bottle at the Chriso Gaylord tasting 09. Black, thin tan head. It’s fine. Some choc, bit of bitterness. Metallic from the carbonation.

Bottle @13C. Pours dark brown, an inch of light tan head that laces well. Quite bubbly for a while, but settles down. Smokey malt, whisky and raisin nose. Smooth, syrupy texture, then peat and plenty of it. Treacle and molasses with some singing - rather than lighter sugars made dark. Finish is quite dry but not bitter at all. Alcohol is dangerously well-hidden despite the whisky aroma. As it warms in the glass it becomes clear that, yep, 13C was still quite a lot too cold (put the temperature on the label, please). Minced pie flavours emerge and the peat sits back a bit. Very good. [3.9] Bottle, 15C. Unpolished clear bronze with a coat of beige head that completely disappears after a while. Aroma of peat, dark toffee, vanilla, whisky, oloroso sherry. Sweet with peat and smoke. Raisins and burnt sugars and hints of herbs. Graciously oxidised malt and dried fruits. Boozy, but it’s well-integrated. Drying finish with peat cleans up the sweetness well.
