Description
Mike Hess Brewing is one of the premier craft breweries of San Diego. We set out with a mission to bring people together over great beer and were early on in the craft beer revolution. We were the region’s 33rd brewery back in 2010 when our first location, then a nano-brewery, in Miramar was opened. Now, in our 10th year, we have 5 locations in California, including the “OG” spot, which has since tripled in size!

Pour is a murky hazy yellow with almost no head at all. Aroma is real hard to come by which does not bode well especially for this style. Some fruit I guess. Flavor is again almost nothing. I have never had such a bland version of this style. This is utter garbage. The canned on date is March 27, 2019 so it's not old. It seems the other raters like the draft version of this. The canned version is the weakest version of a hazy IPA I've had to date.

12 oz can from Boise Co-op. Bright golden with small soapy head. Aroma is more of the geapefruit flesh, while the taste is more grapefruit peel. Nice bitterness with citric fruity sweetness. Damn tasty.

From a can. Hazy dull light orange with a sticky thin white head and lacing. Aromas are plain dull pale malts, a little grassy bitterness and a not very enticing papery bland flavors. Low bitterness and a clean palate.

From a can, slightly hazy bright orange color with a thin off white head. Lots of orange in the aroma, somewhat less in the flavors. Quite bitter, much of it from the citrus pithiness that I expected. LIght bodied and plenty bitter, actually.

32oz crowler pours with a murky opaque dirty copper colored body that has thin golden hues and supports a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up plenty of mango, cantaloupe, tangerine and some orange juice. The taste delivers an array of juicy citrus and tropical fruitiness like tangerine, orange, mango and guava. Nice. It picks up faint booze and even fainter cracker like oat into the finish. Solid brew with plenty of depth and hoppy balance of juicy soft sweetness and citrus hop bitterness.

Can from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours bright gold with some fine bubbles and a foamy white head. Aroma is bready with light citrus. Near med body. Flavor is rather bland breadieness and citrus - but it has a bit of conbonative sparkle in the mouth. Better than meh ....

Draught at Zeezicht. Nice opaque black color with a full sized light brown colored head. Smell and taste are quite bland. Or weak at least. Malts, some dark malts, lightly some malt bitters. Slight lingering roasty notes. Weak body, watery texture, low carbonation. Meh. Really disappointing. 5-4-5-1-9.

32oz crowler pours with a near clear copper body that supports a lasting tight off white head of foam. The aroma offers up tangerine, tangelo, clementine and then a bit of guava and mango. The taste delivers bitter grapefruit and citrus peel hoppiness as well as thin tangy tangerine, guava and mango juiciness. Solid brew.
