Bottle from BeerMerchants; hazy light copper pour with a frothy off white head, fresh zesty tangerine aroma, taste has bitter grapefruit, orange, sweet caramel, a hint of pine, very good, definitely a brewer to watch.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazy, orange gold. Sudsy, just off white head. Bready. Yeasty. Floral. Citrus hop. Lemon rind. Taste is floral, juicy sweet, quickly turning pretty full on, zesty, pithy bitter. Full body. Mouth filling bitterness. Finishes long, fruity, floral bitter. Super tasty. Maybe a bit too fizzy.

On tap (tried but didn’t rate at time) and also bottle from Cloudwater Brewery and tap Units 7-8 Picadilly Trading Estate, Manchester, Saturday 18th April 2015 bottle consumed at home Thursday 30th April 2015 Jolly good session IPA or hoppy golden, call it what you will. Furiously hoppy, strength is quite misleading, in fact the body suggests that this is an altogether bigger and stronger beer. Dry finish, pithy citrus rasps across the tongue. Lovely citrus, lemony and grapefruit combine the latter more dominant, really like this. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Mother Kelly’s. Keg. Lightly hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is light and mildly dry Good fine carbonation. Light malts, vague creamy sweetness. Modest citrus and mild florlaness. Orange peel and grapefruit peel develop before a semi dry finish. Not getting any savoury Gose character here, but it’s fine.

Tap. Bundobust, Leeds. Hazy yellow. Thin, lasting, white head. There’s grain, and lemon hop, and only a light, tart or citrus character. Taste is dry, and chewy bitter. Not sure what to make of this. It’s not what it says on the tin. Crisp enough. Drinkable. But...

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Gold. Light haze. Messy film of white. Light aroma of tropical fruit. Biscuity malts. Hint of spice. Taste is moderate bitter, with a citric tang. Crisp, clean palate, with more of the tang. Long, moderately bitter finish. A bit of soap on the close. Ok, but I’ll admit I was expecting more.

On tap Cloudwater Brewery and tap (tap open Saturdays), Units 7-8 Picadilly Trading Estate, Manchester, Saturday 18th April 2015 Rich amber coloured beer with just a very slight haze. Initially a little malty with some caramel at the edges. It’s fruity and refreshing a little fulsome with the malts heading the way, but hops do show, it’s a very nice beer. A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.4

On tap The Common, Northern Quarter, Manchester, Saturday 18th April 2015 in company of Georgia and Dom. Thanks to the guys at Cloudwater for telling us about this place. There is a very light salty/briney tang to this but it really is a very deft touch and this sits more in the realm of very refreshing. Soft in the mouth with more soft skinned fruit thinking Apricot more than citrus. Juicy and then a tad dry, very good beer really moreish. A7 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Keg at Mother Kelly’s. Nose is not really very citrus. Aroma is sweet malts, bready and honey, with some floral notes. Golden / light orange coloured pour with a fine white head and a light haze. Flavour is composed of sweet breads and honey, pollen, little salty lime edge to it but way not enough. Palate is a bit sweet, and full for a gose, not refreshing enough. Lingering mineral and pollen is OK. OK beer, not a gose.
